ALMELUND, Minn. — She calls herself the “World’s Meanest Mom,” but a Minnesota woman said she has a reason for selling her daughter’s dream truck on Craigslist.

Amy Adams said her daughter “decided that her grades don’t matter, that she can disrespect myself and her siblings on a daily basis and that she has the right to skip school and run away from home.”

Adams added that her daughter, who was just about to get her driver’s license, “was on her ‘one more chance and the truck was getting sold.’ And she blew that ‘one more chance’ on Monday when she decided to skip school.”

The ad has generated hundreds of responses, many of them supportive — some even from other parents who aren’t even interested in buying the 1998 Dodge Ram she listed at $2,750, Adams told WFMY.

It wasn’t just the tough parental justice that turned heads; Adams clearly took pleasure in writing the following:

“If the person driving the truck on a daily basis will be attending North Branch high school next year you will get a $300 discount. Why? Because I AM the World’s Meanest Mom, and would love for her to be reminded every day next year of all of the mistakes she made.”

The Craigslist post has since been flagged and taken down — Adams believes her daughter’s high school friends are doing it — but she says she’ll keep posting it.

Adams says she, too, was a “snippy,” “obnoxious” teenager, but it was her mother — who preferred to be seen as a “mean mom” rather than a friend — whose values kept Adams on the right path.

Adams said she hopes her daughter “realizes that it’s OK to discipline your kids. And it’s OK to have expectations … (and) consequences.

Maybe over the top, maybe not. My dad was my father, I was not his beer drinking buddy. Love my son , but he is not my "best friend", he is my son and everything that comes with it. "New age" parents need to figure this out. There is a real world out there with "real life" responsibilities (and people that may say vwery bad words, let alone cut your head off). The only "safe zone" is in a basement or apparently in our universities where our kids/grand kids are being taught and "protected and sheltered" by professional students who have never had a real world job, ie>>> Tenured Professors. just sayin. God forbid you actually explain what a "chore" is to todays' kids. Going to my "safe zone" now. (Where's my PS4 controller ?, dang it) Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me. (Old American saying but now meaningless.) Oh.. look.. a Unicorn!!!

Just maybe the daughter will learn her lesson. If not then she won't and she won't have a truck any longer.

I say good for the mom, children have to have limits and if they cross those lines then there needs to be punishment. At her age she should be more mature and I think losing the truck would be good for her, and if the mom thinks selling it will teach her that lesson then good for the mom. Just my .02 worth.

Honestly, it's each parents call what to do with their kids. Barring the extreme ends of the spectrum of either side (beating your kid vs doing jack to discipline them) I believe kids should have their butts whipped in certain situations up to a certain age. Obviously, this little girl's too old to get a butt whipping. Hey if she can't follow the rules, she can't drive. My parents took away my keys and chauffeured me to school as a senior, upon which, they would make a point to get out, give me a paper bag and wave to alllllll my buddies (and the freshmen). Needless to say, whatever I did, I made it a point not to do that again LOL.
Point being, kids need to learn discipline. If they don't learn it early on, the consequences will be much worse as an adult (prison - screwed career - screwed life) but hey, parents aren't supposed to PARENT, they're supposed to let snot nosed kids with NO logic, NO respect, NO idea do what they think is right. Yeah.....good idea.

I had my hardship license the day I turned 15 and a Ford futura to drive. Ugly car, but damn it I had a JVC hyperbass pull out tape deck, 2 6x9s, a bass tube in the trunk and my whole classes respect. About 6 months in, I decided to skip school and drive 30 minute away to go to detention with another buddy at his school... which they actually let me go in, no questions asked. I didn't do it for my buddy, but a 16 year old hottie that liked me was having to go to and wanted me to meet her, which turned out really well for me. Long story short, my dad found out and gave me the chance to come clean. Of course i lied and because of lying, not skipping, he literally had the car sold the next day. I was his way or NOT the highway! I moved out at 17, but not only did I not lie to my dad again, I didn't skip school... until I moved out anyway. It was painful, but I love my dad for teaching me right from wrong. If there were more belts on the ass and old school parenting, this country would be better off! Don't lie to papa kiddos

Yeah, odd thing is I never got in that much trouble for the crap I did, it was more lying, sneaking around, etc. the small stuff always got to my parents more than the big stuff.
LOL oh @TruckyTruck the crap teenagers do just to impress or "hook up" with a hot girl. Man, guys ARE stupid when hormones come in aren't they? Hahahahaha

I personally think public child shaming with media is pathetic. To me, the parent(s) are just trying to justify their shitty parenting skills of past and are now just getting "tough".

I agree with Matt. Parents need to understand the difference between friends/parenting. There is a distinct difference.

I am the disciplinarian in my family. My wife is softy and when I try to impose penalty, she is behind the kid gesturing me "please", haha. I am softy too, but my children don't fully realize that yet.

Yes, I do agree with the general idea of suffering the consequence of their actions, but I don't need to have their privacy violated this way.

When I was a kid growing up and messed up my Mom would dust my britches and then I had to dread my Dad getting home from work for round 2. I always hated having to cut my own switches and soon learned not to pick the skinnier ones.:)

Oh man, mine was belts, telephone wires (back when telephones HAD wires), flip flops, a good old fashioned open palm, anything that was nearby! You name it, I've had my butt whipped with it! My mom was the displinarian, but let me tell you, for a 5'6" woman, she had strength!! LOL
I don't know about the smaller switches bro, my mom would've beat my butt with a tree trunk if I brought it to her! You gotta think, yes the smaller ones sting, but the bigger ones pack more of a wallop! Damned if you do, damned if you don't!

This thread is awesome. Funny how some think child abuse today with a wooden spoon.

I remember once my Dad told me to stop eating all the green peppers out of the garden. Well, I didn't and he caught me. The closest thing he had was the garden hose. He took out his knife, cut the end off and commenced to beat my ass. Lol. I still do not like green peppers to this day.

Fun sad fact. In Colorado, it is illegal to spank with anything but your hand. I have a lifelong friend that almost lost his kids from spanking with a belt. He had to do a buttload of parenting classes, lost time with the kids and is on the radar with child services.

Man explains the state america's in now. No respect, no discipline, just a bunch of feel good, "I need a safe space", unicorn loving, rainbow farting hippies who think a liberal arts major at university will Pay off student loans.
Do I sound cynical? If I do, it's because I am a cynical smart ass and proud of it LOL MURICA!! @ColoradoTJ

If i was that kid, i would be glad they got rid of that piece. Then once I "learned my lesson" use the money and buy something a lot nicer. Since the mom said that's what she said she would do...
