Thanks for sharing the mods Dave. I'd like to see your setup and get some ideas if you don't mind. I'm in Concord and into overland as well. I went w/ 20 other rigs to Indian Valley reservoir last weekend.

Great photos! I am sleeping on the banks of the Klamath River right now as I type. I led 14 rigs up to the Lost Coast of California. It’s been a great trip so far

    Wellllllll

I need a new front emblem. The freakiest thing happened, I was driving 65mph on a highway and a stick fell from a tree in front of me and idk if it wedged against the grill or what but it literally plucked the emblem off like a bottle cap. Just the emblem, not a mark anywhere else on the grill. This all happened in 0.2 seconds.

The stick wasn’t even big, like a broom handle, and it landed right as I was driving over it and suddenly the emblem flipped over the hood, off my windshield, and I didn’t see where it went. Mind you this is a busy California highway and I went round and drove by again to look but couldn’t find it without the risk of dying.

Somewhere in California, there's a piece of wood with the Toyota emblem stamped square into it :rofl:

I got 2 mods done today, the first is simple. My HAM unit is under the front passenger seat and I wanted to add an extension for the mic so that it wasn’t stretching from under the far seat. So I routed the extension into the center console.

    There’s 4 bolts that I loosened
    15BDE14B-8E6B-4158-B8B5-14571E044935.jpg

I drilled a hole near the edge just big enough for the mic plug, then snaked it down and out under the seat
    D629289E-28F8-4B3A-9F3C-BDF47EF5B49D.jpg

The rubber mat forces a tight fit better than I expected when I put it back in
    9F25FF1C-A8C4-4321-A38C-21667D9C3DA1.jpg

Now the mic stores in the center console and can easily be used

Anyone have a good solution for organizing the console storage?

When I get my new KB Voodoo Pro-Max rack my plan is to install a KC HiLites rear chase bar that will have rear turn signals and amber dust lights. I needed to install 2 switches to signal the solid amber and flashing amber lights. The amber LED’s have a minimal draw so I’m switching them directly.

I found these switches to place in the lower left dash

To access the lower left panel un-clip the bottom panel, there are two screws, one pictured above, one pictured below. There are tabs to press in as well across the front

Pull straight out on the dash and the clips will begin to unsnap, I started more towards the top

There is a sideways clip to be mindful of
    940C4649-34EE-41F3-BEE9-C1A2D9BF9E29.jpg

I was surprised to find that each plug was wired up, even if it was a blank. I hooked up a switch to where the heated steering wheel switch usually is but unfortunately it didn’t work. Thought perhaps there was a chance.
To remove a blank use a narrow screwdriver to unclip the sides

The blank is on the right so you can see the clips

The AOB switch comes with a diagram to wire the switch for dash illumination and when pressed. The great news is you can use one of the unused plugs. Talk about easy. I used the bottom far right plug as you look at the panel. The positive dash light wire and negative dash light wire are the same as on the plug. I cut them and used a butt crimp to splice them into the switch harness. I combined the white and black grounds as the diagram mentions.

I routed the amber lights power wires (green and white) with the red wire from the battery through the firewall. There’s a rubber grommet that I used a coat hangar to poke and fish it through. I loop the wires through a crook in the coat hangar and tape it off to secure the wires, at least that’s how I do it. 3AABF9A3-1A89-458A-968D-72E3182EA78A.jpg

They didn’t have perfect matches for my light names but REAR LIGHTS is my solid dust light and REVERSE LIGHTS are the blinking ambers which I use less

We have a meet up this Saturday 1-3pm, you can see the truck if you are around. We have a big turn out and will be discussing airing up and down, air tools, compressors etc.

This is too neat. Props to you for being the first to attempt things, lol

Do the aftermarket switches dim along with the factory stuff, too?

I banged out a quick step today after Easter service, I need to add the 12 pin bulkhead plug that will power my rack and tent as it goes on and off my truck like a backpack for off roading and camping.

    Holes always look terrible
    86522F53-EE7B-46BE-A06C-D404EBCAFB98.jpg

12 pin plug that still needs the wiring to the truck, some of the wires will piggyback off the trailer plug wiring, some pins are for rack lights and tent power

Yesterday I finished wiring up my connections to run my chase bar, which has brake lights-turn signals- amber chase lights-and reverse lights. The chase bar is tapped into the trailer plug wiring on the backside of the bumper so I can still plug in a trailer.
    6A408884-7358-4463-8327-FCEA45F9E2D6.jpg

The wiring diagram is conveniently located A9F43E32-AC72-4F94-96C5-97D0878602FA.jpg78E57D0F-4FC9-438F-BA22-420AD348D8AA.jpg

Splicing in using heat shrink connectors

Again this wiring runs up to a 12 pin bulkhead connector

They keep saying that their kits are supposed to be anodized black. I saw some on YouTube and they also said to ignore that it's not black, since it's only pre-production

Yeah I didn’t care, it gets crazy dirty and is an intermediate lift for me, till it all gets locked in for a good suspension lift with new springs-shocks-UCA’s

Got my Westcott Designs 3/2 lift in today and I like the change! I went with raw aluminum as I don’t really care as the shocks get dirty anyway and nothing looks better to me than King blue.

Good news is that at full droop the brake lines have plenty of slack with the 2” spacer

    Bad news…Tundras have no droop!

Installed my RLM Signs 2022 Tundra Decal, I like it! It does cut down on glare as well. Makes my truck feel like mine
