They’re on sale at amz for $79 right now.

Never experienced one myself. Folks are nuts about them though.

I think it’s funny that “yogurt maker” is a selling point. Not judging anyone who uses it for that, but I laugh at the idea of 6 quarts of yogurt.

I don’t know much about them but I do know my wife bought one a couple months ago. She uses it at least once a week for dinners. She enjoys the ease of using it and enjoy her cooking, win win!

Also, I’ve been asked not to use it because apparently I could “blow up” the house haha

We use ours several times a week. We make everything from roasts, whole chickens, pulled pork etc to soups and stew. There are lots of recipes on line; my wife especially likes to find them on Pinterest.

My wife brought one home months before Christmas.
After eating 8-10 meals from it, I purchased 3 or 4 for gifts/raffle prizes.
(At first, I was very hesitant)

    They fucking kick ass.

We have kids, soccer, baseball, working family - and my wife can whip-up a 8hr crock-pot meal in 45 minutes.

We had hand-rolled meatballs and spaghetti last week. I looked at my wife after cutting a meatball with my fork, and taking a bite....and said....”holy shit, this is the best meatball I’ve ever had in my entire life”. I, at the time, had no idea she would’ve made meatballs in this new contraption.

I’m still old school and prefer charcoal Webber, but this thing put the rice-cooker and crock-pot out of business.

If someone knocks it, they aren’t using it properly.
We use the 6qt - family of 4
I’m sure she paid around the $100 or whatever they go for, and from what I’ve seen - I’d pay $300 for the thing.

    OH - Hard Boiled Eggs!!!
    5 minutes! Perfect! EVERY TIME!!!
    That, alone, is worth it.

Oh, and we clear EVERYTHING off our counters - no toaster, coffee maker, mixer - everything is clear besides cutting boards.
I just walked by our range, and yes - of course the Insta-Pot hasn’t made it home yet.
    The thing has a place!!!

We use ours at least 2-3 times a week. Funny someone mentioned the yogurt above because we have two kids and they gobble that stuff up. We just sweeten it up on our own and can control what goes in their body more. But for dinners, oh man, it is awesome. I myself made a legit chicken dinner tonight with a marinade. Just tossed it all in there and put it to high and I was done. You can add pasta, sauce and meatballs and set a timer and be done, one plate(pot) to clean. My wife knows how to cook about 20 different things in there and myself about 4-5. So it is a very good investment and would highly recommend getting one. Takes up a lot of space but that is the only con. Feel free to shoot a PM for any recipes, don't want to inundate ppl with them.

The mrs. also told me that you can put it in the freezer which helps get the smell out of it. Not sure if she meant overnight or just for a couple hours but I would look into it.

What does it do that the Instapot doesn't? It seems like there is a broil function. I like that idea. Is it Instapot/air fryer combined?

I've read where one suggestion was to pick up a second ring, then use one for sweet and one for savory dishes. Personally, I just wash it then let it air overnight before putting it back in. I haven't noticed any off tastes or anything from it having some residual smell.

As for the Instant Pot itself? Love it! Especially now that I'm snowbirding this winter, since I can make fairly complex dishes in an RV without having a bigass mess to clean up afterwards!

    Badass Barbacoa:

8-10 dried chiles (Mix of California, Guajillo and Ancho) - Seeds removed and lightly toasted
    1 onion (cut into quarters)
1 can tomato (diced, whole... won't matter)
    2-3 tsp cumin
    1 Tbs sugar
    2 tsp mexican oregano
    2-3 bay leaves
    1tbs vinegar
    2 cans beef broth

3lbs of MEAT (Cheap stuff... Stew meat, lamb, goat... whatever)

Throw it all in and pressure cook for about 45min. Remove the meat (and bay leaves) and hit it with a hand blender. If you had a whole piece of meat to start, cut it down a little and shred a little (should be tender enough that it will kinda mush with the back of a wooden spoon). Add salt to taste...

Serve in a bowl with cilantro, diced onion and some of the "pot juice" as well as some warm tortillas.

I like ours because I can throw a roast or beef ribs in it frozen and an hour later sit down to eat the tender morsels. Good luck. D

Lol... She finally used it the other day and it was a disaster. Something burned in the bottom, she's in total meltdown mode, tears, the whole 9 yards. After 34 years I know when to make myself scarce and vacated to the backyard to work on my camper shell.

She did get back on the horse and tried it again the following evening with stellar results.

Our mixer gets some serious workouts. Have had it for years.
