I can't seem to find any products or information for this part. I have a small dent above my tailgate handle that probably 2.5 to 3 inches would cover up. Looking for black. Don't really have the means to do it custom. Kind of a bolt on kit kind of guy. Anyone know of anything that may work? I probably could do a little modification with basic hand tools. Thanks in advance. deezee_brite-tread_tailgate_cap_related1.gif

0414181101.jpg I did this several years ago to my 2010. It's "Pacer" brand peel & stick molding. This pic is supposed to show my lightbar but you can see the molding pretty well. It comes in different widths, do a search for it. I'm thinking I saw it lately for $30 or so for 6'.

Nice I like it and its fairly cheap. Probably would rhino line it to give it that rough look. Also found this on tundratalk but not sure if I like how it doesn't extended all the way left to right. It's for a 2006 silverado and at that point the one I picture above may be able to fit the same general way. Dee Zee makes a black diamond steel one for 2006 Silverados. 20190201_105250.jpg

What year is your truck. The newer tailgates have a built-in spoiler looking tailgate. I don’t know if any of these would work with that.

Unfortunately I looked at those they wont work for my purpose I've read reviews on Amazon. They don't extend down to the handle. I'll probably try the Pacer molding. GFound it for 37 bucks probable will look for it cheaper too. dee-zee-diamond-plate-tailgate-cap.jpg

Yep, wasn't tough to do. I did it in hot weather which may've helped too. I did try a Silverado Cap on my 2010 and didn't like the fitment. If you're looking for 2.5 -3", the Chevy cap may not be wide enough

Great info. Do you happen to have another pic with the Pacer strip?

@CMB Also did it fit over the stock cap?

Came out ok. Probably should've waited until it was warm out. It's 35 degrees here so it isn't perfectly straight but I like it a lot! Thank you for the new mod idea! @CMB

Have you thought about just removing the dent ? I'm sure you could get to it from the removable panel on the tail gate. I had a real small one got a dent push rod and it came right out . I guess if the paint is chipped I see your point but defiantly touch it up before you cober it up. Dont want the rust .

It wasn't chipped. This route was easy and I don't get a lot of time to work on my truck having a baby and all. Took me 10 minutes to do this. I previously had a dent guy come to my house and he did paintless dent removal and said it was too deep and he charges 100 dollar flat rate. The strip was 30 dollars. Just worked out better for me and I actually like the look a lot
