    Hello,

Thinking about getting a new double din stereo - specifically the Kenwood DMX 7705S,

Thinking I’ll get the tail gate handle back up cam and possible a cheaper front cam as well. I have a couple questions and open to recommendations .

Is this a good stereo for the price range ? I’ve done quite a bit of research and seems like it is.

What is the easiest way to run the back up camera and possible front camera to the HU system . Anybody have a clean set up that was easy to feed through?

I’m buying the Crutchfield so if any coupon codes let me know !

    Thanks

Kenwood is a great buy. Someone just posted about buying the same headunit and really likes it. You can get a front camera off of Amazon that fits the toyota grille emblem for $17. Quite a few people got them.

Your cameras will attach to the yellow rca cables pictured there. You typically have to cut the rca jack off to run the wiring and then reattach once the wiring is where you want. You don’t wanna be drilling 1/4 holes in your truck to run the rca through. Kendwood isn’t a bad deck. I’m a pioneer guy myself, specifically their NEX series.

@Jrharvey02 Does your nex have a front camera input? I've been pioneer all my life, but really like the features on the kenwood, especially paired with the maestro harness and get vehicle info on it. Right now I have an android 10" radio. Want something little better and more reliable.

Yes, I have the 8200nex, I think it’s about the top of the line model. The only difference between mine and lesser expensive NEX models is some convenience features, but the overall quality of the NEX is tip-top and yes, dual cameras, simple user interface, apple CarPlay and android auto, everything. My CarPlay is hard wired and I’m able to use my steering wheel controls plus Siri assistant to call, transcribe texts etc. they just added a bunch of apps that work too like pandora, google maps. I’d advise against wireless android auto/apple car play until they’ve worked out the bugs.

I just got my front camera from Amazon the other day. Thing unlike about pioneer is you can play movies from a hard drive, kenwood can't

Nice thanks for all the replies. Can you send me the Amazon link for that $17 front camera? How’s the quality on that one ? I think I’m looking at around $650-$700 for this whole set up with self install. My biggest problem is gonna be figuring out how to feed the wiring through the firewall to the front camera and the best way to feed wiring from the dash to the rear camera. I plan on using the tail gate camera. Any suggestions on this portion ?

Maybe run the cable along the frame rail into the engine bay on driver's side. There's a rubber boot where the main wire harness goes through. I used a long screwdriver to push it aside at the bottom then fed my wires through. You can also poke a new hole through it. And silicone so it doesn't leak.

I just bought and installed this one from Amazon too. Only had 2 reviews but they were both from tundra owners. One dude had already ran his thru the auto car wash 4 times for christ sake and it was going strong, that sold me. I can’t speak for rear install, but follow the windshield wiper line under the hood, that get you to the passenger firewall, poke through where the wiring harness is right there. I’d recommend taking all 3 wires (aux, positive and ground) into the cab and stealing power from an ignition source going into the stereo or similar using a t-tap. Easy peasy.

I ran it through the passenger side grommet and up to the cigarette lighter power under the climate control knobs, I just tapped into the pos/neg wire powering that with some quick snap connectors and a few inches of 16 gauge wire
