Just installed the JDM Astar 1260 bulbs on my 2018 DC SR5 TRD Off-road with the LED headlights. Took 10 minutes and they work perfectly. Impressively bright. I haven’t addressed the rear blinkers yet.

Just braved the 16 degree weather and installed JDM astar bulbs and I have hyper flash. Guess I'll need resistors. That sucks.

Seems that trucks 2018-19 that came with stock LED headlights do NOT get hyper flash with LED blinker bulbs but anyone who used a harness for 2014-2017 DOES get hyper flash. Anyone with a LED headlights conversion NOT get hyperflash?

I can confirm that they do hyperflash on my 15. I think the guys without hyperflash are 2018 and newer. Us guys who did the LED conversion will get hyperflash unless we use resistors.

I wonder if @iHacker could start including the option for a pre installed resistor for those who want to install LED turn signals. I'm sure plenty would pay for that, I sure would have.

Yeah seems as though the 2018s and up are good to go with the non canbus bulbs or no resistors but us earlier guys are going to have to go that route.

I don't think the ones I got do.

Taken from the description on Amazon:
***Note you might need to add 50W 6-Ohm load resistors or change flasher rely to prevent the LED bulbs from hyper flashing.***

Received my order from VLED's today.

Installed the 3rd brake light. Love it.

Installed the 6 led reverse lights. Love them. However, not sure which way might be better to index them as you can rotate the led's in the housing. With the LED's vertically oriented or horizontally. At the moment, they are horizontal.

Now on to the topic at hand. I ordered the V6 Triton's as well as the resistors. I have dealt with led's in other situations and have found them to be polarity dependent. With that thought in mind I thought I would try one first without the resistor. Success, no hyper flash. Removed it and installed the set screws and the foam washer and reinstalled it. Damn. Now I have hyper flash. Disconnected it at the factory plug and rotated it 180 degrees. Boom, back to normal. Installed the other side and had hyper flash the first time I connected it. Rotated the plug 180 degrees and again, NO hyper flash. I am keeping the resistors for now in case I replace the rear turn signal lights with more VLED bulbs which I have read may cause the problem.

SO, if you have hyper flash with a bulb that others say they do not then ROTATE IT 180 DEGREES and try again. That may be all you have to do. I have an '18 with the led headlights. YMMV....

Oh, one last thing. These things are f'n bright!!! I stared a little too directly at it when first hooking it up and I think I can still see it 2 hours later when I close my eyes... lol...

I did try to rotate mine but it didn't work out. I think pre 2018 need resistors unfortunately

Not true my 2019 had hyperflash with the V6 Triton bulbs when tried without the resistor pack.

Do you have full LED headlights? It seems to be guys with the OEM LEDs do not have hyper flash issues. Anyone who has or converted from halogen headlights are having the issue.

Could be because it’s a Platinum? IDK. But also maybe cause I converted ALL lights to VLEDs.

I have no clue. Seems to be hit or miss on the issue. I guess the answer is stick with halogen or have resistors on hand

I don’t know why ppl are crying against the resistor like a plague. Just get or use them for crying out loud.

I have never used them. Seems easy enough, plug and play would be nice for sure, especially when its 8 degrees outside. I'll be installing resistors when it warms up in CT

My 2018 SR5 did not come with LED headlights. I bought the 2018 toyota LED headlights and used the iHacker harness. The JDM Astar bulbs installed without any resistors did not hyperflash on mine.

I'm willing to bet this is the reason. I've got nothing against the resistors other than its 30 bucks I didn't have to spend and its 2 more things in the chain that aren't needed. I'll find out when I upgrade the rears at some point. The K.I.S.S. way of thinking resonates with me because I am the sofa king...

Got my Putco Plug and Play resistors in the mail yesterday. They do not look anything like the picture they have listed for part 240008. I was hoping for a clean looking connector on each end with a black box in the middle type look. Not at all what I got. The website does state that the picture you see may not represent what you actually end up with. Nevertheless, I took the jumbled wire/connector setup out to the truck (it is cold) and plugged it into the ihacker harness that I have and the turn signals worked fine. I left the turn signals on for probably 5 minutes while I fumbled with my big old man hands to get the fricking connector with the bulb back into the headlight..........the bulbs then began to dim and eventually went out. Not sure if it is the bulb or the resistors. I checked all my connections and they appeared good. So.................I just pulled the leds out and said to hell with it. Put the incandescent bulbs back in. I will play with it more on a warmer day. Bottom line is that it appears as though resistors will work with the ihacker harness. Not sure if led's heat up so much that the overheat ? The resistors were not extremely hot to the touch.

Thanks for the update... I am by no means an electronics expert but it seems strange the LEDs would overheat (especially in the cold weather). Seems more like a failure of the resistor. If it happens again (when you try it again), I would try removing the resistor harness and plugging directly back to the iHacker harness to see if the LED works again. Maybe a process of elimination to figure out the issue.

Good suggestion and I will do exactly that. Appreciate the suggestion.
