    I'll take a GX or LX over a 4runner.

I was more impressed with my 3rd gen than I am with the new 4runners.

Yeah, if I was going to buy an older one for wheeling, but the new one needs to step it up.

My 3rd gen 3.4 had more percieved power and better handling than my buddies 2017. Even he agrees mine felt lighter, more nimble, and more powerful. And we got the same gas mileage . Both had the equivalent of 32" tires. I still think the new 4runners are nice vehicles, I would just prefer the GX or LX.

And yeah, I loved my 3rd gen 4R so much. Awesome truck in snow. I miss my 1st gen more though.

Indeed. I am surprised at how small it feels when driving. Doesn’t fee much bigger than her old Subaru. I do notice it seems to be lacking in rear leg room and cargo space. It seems much smaller than a 4Runner. The fit and finish is a Lexus, and frankly I still feel like I have no business sitting in one! The biggest problem I am facing is resisting the urge to mod the heck out of it!

I too feel like we have no business having one. Our friends call it the "Silver Chariot", LOL. The backseat legroom is not huge, for the ladies and kiddos IMO. :)
Two mods that come to mind needed:
-Unless it has changed, our inverter outlet is in the back right corner - let me know if you relocate or add an outlet towards the front.
-The sideway swing back door - Hate it! Swings open like 5 ft. outward. Wish it opened upward. This would be a major mod LOL. Love the 570 rear door, opened upward and split with small tailgate. Of coarse much pricer.....

Also stock tires will only get about 20k miles, Michelins and Bridgestones. Guessing weight and AWD are chewing up soft riding tires. I would like to know a better wear/mileage option.

    Enjoy your/Her "White Chariot"!

    Nice... we have matching vehicles!

Although, I drove her lexus for the first time just before christmas after 6 months of ownership and dannng... that thing is NOT comfortable for larger folks. Luckily, fits wifey well and i never have to drive it.

Isn’t the GX also sort of outdated? That’s what I experienced when I was test driving a 2016. Maybe the 2019 has radically changed inside :confused:

For what it's worth, the 5.7 should be a direct bolt in as it has the same external dimensions as the 4.6. That's the mod i dream of - no way i'm doing it until something catastrophic happened but a GX with 5.7 would be fun - it ain't build for speed as it is.

It's been so cold here I haven't spent much time with it, but I did notice an outlet in the back right corner. I don't plan on ripping apart the interior of a new Lexus anytime soon!

I agree that the swing door is weird. We had that on our 07 Rav4 so it isn't alien to us, but a power lift gate sure is better. Good thing the window opens.
-The stock tires are Michelins. Seem fine but I'd love to put some KO2's on this thing.
-They threw in an OEM hitch and harness - the final sweetener that got me to buy it. I need to get it back to the dealer for install.
-Also, the roof rail is pretty useless on this thing. I looked on the webs and it seems like you can install a Prado roof rack on the GX. Higher profile and you can mount a box, rack, etc. Makes sense as they are the same vehicle. Seems like a pricey OEM part though, and it may not be available in USA - i will check with @Roman
