I got a new 2016 Tundra about now 2 weeks ago, dealer said I have a 26 gal tank, papers he gave me say 38 gal tank. Yesterday I went to the gas station with 1/4 tank and filled it with 24.13 gals which would by my thoughts make it a 32 gal tank. Can anyone help me understand what is going on and what I most likely have?

I would say a 38 gallon. That is about how much I take when I have a 1/4 of a tank. There are other posts about how ridiculously large the reserve in a 38 gallon tank is

You have a 38 gallon tank. No question about it. Don’t overthink it. If you have anymore questions there are multiple threads on this. You can either have the 26 gallon tank or the 38 gallon tank. There is no in between. The gas light comes on with more fuel left than you think you have.

With the SR5 the 38 gal tank is part of the SR5 Upgrade package. If you have the two bucket seats in the front with the center console you have the SR5 upgrade package.

Thank you all of you, yes I have an SR5 and that is good to know, I had (still have trying to sell) and F-150 and it had a 36.7 gal tank and I loved it on long trips. So thanks for the info, and I am from Lakewood, CA. Anyone do RV camping that answered me? Just wondering.

Is this true? I’m still wondering what size mine is but I ran my VIN thru Toyota and it didn’t mention the 38 gal tank on the build sheet but I do have a SR5 crewmax with bucket seats??

It needs to be the SR5 upgrade package. I have a SR5 but it doesn’t have the SR5 upgrade package.

I don’t think they offered the 38 gallon tank in 2015. Maybe that’s why you’re not seeing it

That’s right. I think 2016 is when it was finally offered.

You most likely have the 38 gal tank. The tank is really big if you look under the truck. I think that it will be noticeable.

So I have a '17 Crew max XSP-X. I did not buy it new. I had just under a quarter tank left and it said like 61 miles till empty. Gas light did not come on. I put 27.6 gallons in. So its safe to assume I have the SR5 package. I did not know they switched to a 37 gal tank until I read this thread. Even says SR5 on top of the console lol. Not asking a question just saying what I noticed.

I have a 2018 Tundra, TRD/SR5. I am pretty sure it had a 26 Gal tank. with the needle on empty , I could only put in 20 gals. it would be ridiculous to have an 18 gallon "reserve" .
I went ahead and installed the Transfer flow 46 gal tank. I did it myself. wasn't too bad.
now when the low fuel light comes on, I have about a 10 Gallon reserve.
I went to the dealer and tried to get them to adjust the firmware for the larger tank so the "miles to empty" would be accurate , but they said there is no such adjustment. they suggested I disconnect the battery for a half hour to do a hard reset and let the computer "adjust " to the new tank. we will see if that works.

Not really. At first it seemed to start off with a larger number, but after a short time it reverted back. I really think there is a setting , but the Dealer doesn't know about it.
If they could just set it for the 38 gallon tank, that would at least be a good start.
