Late last year we scored a screaming deal on flights to Orlando from Sacramento (I think there were $150 round trip), so we booked it for Feb 6-12.
So far, we are planning on spending the first couple days in Orlando and hitting Universal Studios (mainly for the Harry Potter thing, not much into roller coasters anymore). Then we are going to rent a car and drive down to Miami (staying in south beach) and spend Sat/Sun/Mon there.
One of the things we thought would be cool would be to drive the Florida keys.

Any recommendations for things we should do. Good places to eat? Best beaches to hit?

The best beaches are on the gulf side honestly. Let me know of you think you might venture that way and I'll list a few ideas. The keys are great too. Sounds like a great trip.

Go to Lario's restaurant in South Beach. Owned by Gloria Estefan. Good food and music. It's SB so expect to pay for for the "novelty" of being there. But I guess that is every tourist spot.

Thanks for the recommendations! Our original AirBNB canceled on us for the Miami Leg of our trip, so we decided to book one a little farther north from south beach (i guess its north beach), seems like we should still be able to uber into the night life, but not have to sleep next to it.

I'll definately check out Lario's, sounds like a cool spot.

I just did a similar trip last year with flying into Orlando then driving South to Miami/Ft Lauderdale area for a week. 2 of my favorite things to do in South Florida are fish the Everglades, and drive down to the Keys. Check put Bahia Honda state park if you head down there. I am doing the same trip again in June this year.
