Well my 2004 access cab TRD Sport (90k) went in for exploratory surgery today under the frame campaign.

Service manager said they've done about 180 of these inspections and about 30% are getting new frames. Mother Toyota finally settled on noxudol. Bed is removed for inspection, if it passes inspection, the frame is sanded, prepped and the noxudol is applied. Then it has to cure before travel so it'll be 2-3 days before I get my truck back. The LSC includes a loaner vehicle and even though I asked twice for a truck, I was given a 2014 Corolla. Gotta admit I'm impressed with the little Corolla.

The service writer and I did a walk around my truck (my request) and one around his loaner. During the walk around his loaner he commented that, "even though it's a loaner the car is in great shape... he's very particular who he loans his vehicle to sooooooo....." The impression that I got was that he was suggesting he was doing me a favor "hooking me up with loaner".

I said "I thought the loaner car was part of the LSC soooooo......"

To which he responded that Toyota allows $15 per day for the loaner/rental. And he said I'd be hard pressed to find a rental for $15 a day. I just said thank you and shortly thereafter went on my way.

    I'll keep you guys posted.

They hooked me up with a loaner through a local rental place. I asked for the cool black mustang that was on their lot. They said "Toyota tells us it has to be a Toyota. All we have right now is a Yaris"
Cheer up you could do worse.....
PS Do not touch your frame for about a month! That crap will not wash off.....

Crazy. Glad it was caught before the truck broke in half. Carolas aren't bad, just too low and little engines.

It's been an ongoing one for several model years, but it just recently included the 2004 model year in certain states.

Got my truck back today. Actually it was done Thursday, but I didn't get it picked up till this morning. (Didn't bother me at all as I had heard the curing process for the undercoating takes minimum 72 hours)
So it obviously passed since I'm talking about the undercoating process. Tech said the frame looked remarkably clean and rust free save the usual surface rust.
They removed the bed and applied the undercoating to the frame. If they missed anywhere I haven't found it.
Gotta say I'm impressed with the work and they say my frame is as good as it could be. Now, it looks good too. Shiny black everywhere as opposed to dull and dirty with surface rust.

They topped off my fluids and gave her a hand wash with tire dressing. Lakeshore Toyota in NWI did a great job.
On the other hand, they wanted almost $5 for a couple of crush washers for an engine oil and rear diff change. Nope.
So if anyone knows of a better place to get them, please elect me know.
