I may not be as old as some others on here but I remember the days when if you wanted to open your trunk you had to walk to the back and open it with your key. There wasn't any fancy button under the dash, and we didn't have any 'FOB's back then.

I remember the day you could actually work on your truck/car engine. Tweak it yourself. I took auto shop/ metal shop all 4 yrs in high school. I actually could weld better than decent. Actually pretty damn good for a while. You get away from it for 35+ yrs....not pretty. Practice makes perfect. I remember the days when I'd go to a drive-in theater, pop the trunk of my dad's car and a couple more of my girl friend's girl friends would would pop out. Good old days.

I'm old enough to remember the riots of 1968 and LBJ being in office. It's the same thing today but we have BHO in office.

The 65 Watts riots were pretty cool. Saw all the smoke from my grandparents house in South Gate. Fun times.

I remember buying gas for 30 cents a gallon and it was over 100 octane and had lead in it. The first truck I drove was a '57 Chevy stepside with the floor starter - it was my grandfathers and man I wish I had it today.

When I first started buying gas it was Just over a dollar a gallon. I remember as a small child seeing $.34 a gal. in San Louis Obispo though.

Oh yeah the '73 Saudi oil embargo, gas jumped from the 30 cent range to around $1.00. I lived in IN then and you couldn't pump gas on Sunday unless you had truck plates, there was many a time I would get a late dinner at the truck stop waiting for midnight to fill up again.

There were two stations in town that would get into a gas war once a month. I'd wait to full up until it hit 11 cents a gallon. It was probably crap gas, but it burned well enough. One of those stations had two big bulk oil tanks. You could buy oil by the quart and add it there, or you could bring your own container and take it home. One was new oil, the other was "recycled." Back then, I think that meant it had been filtered to get the clumps out. It was roughly 30 weight. I forget the price, I never used it. Cheap gas is one thing, but I made sure I used good oil.

They still do that in Oregon. can't pump your own gas. It's actually illegal. $500 fine.

Wrong thread but I will leave it. Why did you have to mention crying to the Cure? I had a friend back in LA that got divorced. He'd come over to my place with his Cure cds. Start crying immediately. He took his wife to see them. Apparently brought back old memories. Did the same Shit with Depeche Mode. F##K I'd rather have JBerry give me a bunch of Shit for a week.

Sawdust snow tires. Too cheap to take them off for Summer lasted about a month or two at best before total melt-down.

They sure as hell do still sell retreads. Did you know most air line tires are retreads and trucker tires too? Check out this place. Great deals. I'd like a set of studded retreads for winter. Retread tech has come a long way over the years: https://www.treadwright.com/
