    Hi All,
I'm a newbie to the forum so if I'm asking something that's up already let me know.
I have a 2017 Tundra with an 8' bed, A.R.E. fiberglass shell with Yakima bars. I'm a remodeling contractor and need to carry longer material then I feel comfortable putting on just my Yakima bars that came with my cap. I'm looking for a platform or ladder rack that will fit on my shell and the put my Yakima bars on my cab roof. I'm not against adding another platform on the cab roof it will line up. I don't carry more 150lbs as a rule. The cap is suppose to be rated for 500lbs. Any ideas would be really appreciated.

I thought the ARE caps were only rated for roughly 250#s. ?

You might look for a rack that is outside of the shell - metal tubing and cross members. Flat metal plates the vertical bars are welded to and the cap sits on the flat metal plates. There are several companies that make them.

    Something like this - https://www.lowes.com/pd/Hauler-Rac...9_c_&msclkid=5d4dd1cdaa2d1c5ded5a8d8a98ee2a70

I honestly wish Toyota had a factory cab rood track or crossbars option instead of having to do a Yakima or THULE aftermarket crossbar set.

I Tundracap, thanks for the reply. I have looked at the Alurack that A.R.E. sells, Hauler etc... I really don't want to go outside the cap. I hade a kargo master on my chevy and it was great just ugly. I don't / won't be hauling items like I did with my chevy plus this truck is much nicer.

The second option wouldn't work unfortunately, I have side opening panels.

    Gotcha.
Maybe just get an additional Yakima set of towers and crossbars for over the cab. This would allow you to carry longer material, and spread the load/weight over a larger area.

I have Yakima bars on my shell as well, but wish I had a set over the cab.

I am going to call Front Runner. I like that set up as far as low profile. I agree another set of would be great on the cab. At least it would be anchored to steel.
