By polish in that case, they mean part of the paint correction. It’s absolutely necessary. Just ask them not to put any wax or sealant on after that.

You’ll still need to do a strip wash or use something like Carpro Eraser before coating.

Maybe you can get them to apply CQuartz for you pretty cheap.

I place an order. I've been on the fence with ceramic coating and this seems to bridge that gap between waxing and ceramic coating.

I got it in. I tested a little spot on my bed cover yesterday. Here’s a pic this morning. It certainly made the spot more hydrophobic.

I highly recommend using a respirator with this. I caught a whiff when using it, and this stuff could probably do some damage to your lungs.

    Looks good.
Did you do any special prep?
    Is it over previous wax?

No sir, just cleaned it. Nothing was put on it when the truck was coated. I’ve tried several different things, but nothing has wanted to bond with the cover. It has all failed pretty quickly. Hoping this holds up.

I applied it on my wife’s Sequoia yesterday. I washed, used Iron-X, and Carpro Eraser, and washed again first. I didn’t do any paint correction. It’s MGM, so isn’t showing any swirls, and parts of it need to be repainted anyway. (You can see on the hood there are some bad chips, and the front grill and bumper need replaced.)
We’ll see how it performs, but application was incredibly easy. Sprayed onto a towel, and wiped on each panel. It flashed really fast. It calls for 1-2 minutes, but flashed much quicker than that. Then wiped it again. That easy. I did use some really cheap towels, since they really aren’t going to be usable again after having ceramic on them. I used the towels that had product on them to wipe the Bakflip cover on my Tundra, then threw them away.

As usual, pics don’t do justice, but it looks really good. The product is supposed to look even better after the four hour cure time, but it was dark at that point so I’ll have to look again this afternoon.

    50D1AB01-9912-40A3-B1FC-ED745AF2AC79.jpg 65078E69-C678-4BE0-9CC2-A7CEA7BB9A52.jpg

I tried to get some pics of it flashing, but it didn’t really show up on camera.

    A4BA6F89-E9C1-4D13-9DE6-2A22FE0090A9.jpg

I still had most of the bottle left after doing it. The Sequoia is a very large vehicle, and I feel like I even used more than necessary at points.

    9D7BEA25-285F-429C-8E80-C5ACA6EB571E.jpg

Ultimately, if it performs well, and holds up at least six months, I’d definitely recommend this product to people. Especially those who are on the fence, and want to give ceramic coating a try.
I’m thinking also that this may be a good topper for those who already have ceramic coating. It would be an easy way to add another sacrificial layer, and extend the life of their coating. (Not sure it would bond well with an existing coating like CQuartz though.)

Interesting... can someone with experience (definitely NOT me) help put together a start to finish "kit" and procedure, assuming we're starting with a brand new truck? Here's my best guess:

    1) Rinse

    2) Wash
    -ADAM'S CAR WASH SHAMPOO 16OZ: https://adamspolishes.com/shop/exterior/carwashing/adam-s-new-car-wash-shampoo-16oz.html
    -ADAM'S 3.5 GALLON DETAILING BUCKET w/ GRIT GUARD: https://adamspolishes.com/adam-s-3-5-gallon-detailing-bucket.html
-ADAM'S PREMIUM MICROFIBER WASH SPONGE: https://adamspolishes.com/adam-s-premium-microfiber-wash-sponge.html

    3) Rinse clean

    4) Prep for ceramic
    -CarPro Eraser: https://smile.amazon.com/CarPro-Era...?keywords=Carpro+Eraser&qid=1548080671&sr=8-6
--Spray on, let sit, rinse off

    5) Dry
-ADAM'S NEW JUMBO GRAY DOUBLE PLUSH DRYING TOWEL: https://adamspolishes.com/shop/acce...s-massive-gray-double-plush-drying-towel.html

    6) Ceramic coat
    -ADAM'S NEW CERAMIC SPRAY COATING 9H 16OZ KIT: https://adamspolishes.com/adam-s-ceramic-spray-coating-9h-16oz-kit.html
    --Follow the instructions

    Job done.

    Yes?

There are several steps you could do for your paint including IronX, clay bar, polish. And I have always done the eraser as the last step before applying my sealant or wax, and I rub it onto the panel, not just spray and rinse.

I would add paint decontamination in there.

    1) Rinse

    2) Wash

    3) Chemical decontamination: Carpro Iron X Iron Remover 500 ml with Sprayer https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004UM6DLE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_8LErCb4NNAS0Y

    4) Claybar / mitt: Nanoskin (AS-016) AutoScrub Fine Grade Wash Mitt https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DOS0LH2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_fNErCb1J97JH8

    5) Wash again

    6) Carpro Eraser

    7) Ceramic

Most people do machine correction before applying ceramic, but I don’t feel it’s necessary with this product unless the paint is pretty bad or really dark colored.

Definitely. It gets hit with hot water twice a day at least, so it should be a good test of longevity.
I’ve used Hydro2 on them in the past.

In Adam’s FAQ on the product, they gave tips for applying this on top of an existing ceramic coating, but did not mention what would be gained by doing it.

I contacted Adams, asking specifically if it would bond with CQuartz, and how it would benefit me to do so. I asked if it increased the longevity of your current ceramic coating. This is their reply:

“Thank you for contacting us and thank you for your business! CSC does work with existing coatings and offers of course more protection and more shine. I have begun using it on vehicles I come in contact with both coated and not. So I would definitely recommend it for just about everything!”

As you can see, the response is vague, and did not directly mention CQuartz. What I take from that is that in their opinion, the answers to my questions are “yes”, but they do not want to make specific claims that they could be held liable for. It seems like if I were off base, they’d have directly said no.

I know some that some companies will hesitate to put something in writing, even if they believe it to be true. Specifically, Jeremy at Shine Supply has told me privately that something would work, but that he didn’t want to advertise it. He said “guys will have a tendency to have unreasonable expectations on the product”. Also, I’m sure there are legal issues if they advertise that something improves another company’s products.

Anyway, in my opinion, it seems like Adams Spray Ceramic would be a good “refresher” on CQuartz. By adding it once or twice a year, I’d think it would extend the life of it. It would be a really strong sacrificial layer.

Do you guys agree/disagree with my thoughts? @SouthBoundSteve @driverdog @Pudge

I agree with everything you say. Surely not necessary, but I already have the spray, and it can’t really hurt. I know some people put multiple coats of CQuartz on, so I’d say it’s similar to that.

And I’m a sucker just like you. My truck is coated, but no way am I not going to keep applying stuff to it. I enjoy it too much. It was a big reason I held back on ceramic to begin with. I didn’t want to stop doing all of that.

I’ll probably end up stacking so much stuff on it that it will be bulletproof a year from now.

Purchased this yesterday. Anything I need to do before hand other than wash?

Do I need to buff it out hard or just spray and wipe down like I would be drying water?

Yeah, like drying water. Maybe a little more. It comes off pretty easily.

As for prep, it’s up to you. I used Carpro IronX and Eraser first, but I already had it on hand. Not sure it’s completely necessary since this isn’t a full on ceramic coating.

Just don’t breathe it in. I caught a whiff and it’s pretty harsh.

As in does it need waxing, or should you?

It won’t need it, but you can. Wax will make it shine more, but won’t really add protection.
