Hello everyone! Currently I own a 2017 Tacoma Sport DCSB 4x4, been exactly 24 months now. Its been reliable, practical, and fits my lifestyle. However, I have gotten increasingly frustrated with powertrain issues, yes thats plural. I did add a Pedal Commander which helped some, but still noticeable drivetrain issues. I think the next step would be to regear, but I'd rather just throw in the towel now. Previously had a 2007 Taco for 10 years and I can say it drives 10 times better. I'd could write an entire story comparing apples to apples, but not gonna bore y'all with what everyone already knows. Worse yet when I drive other vehicles and jump back in my Taco, I quickly realize how numb I've gotten to the issues.

Having said that, I don't want to leave the Toyota family. I been reading many of the "From Taco to Tundra" threads. I really appreciate the comments from both 2nd and 3rd gen Taco owners. This is not the first time I thought about trading up for Tundra. I got nicely setup Tacoma with Fox 2.5's, Baja Designs goodies, Methods, BFGs, etc. that it be such a shame to start over. Luckily I kept all me stock items except for wheels and can easily start taking it back to stock. Thinking between Spring and Summer if I'd try to make the switch. The power & towing be a huge plus for me, but can do without physical size. I'll keep y'all posted, but not looking good for the Taco right now.

Welcome! But why write a book about your Tacoma? Don't like it? Trade! I just did.

I think its an appropriate short read in the New Member Introduction section and others can relate as I introduce where I'm coming from and why I'm here.

LOL, I wish there was a 5.7 swap. I been waiting for Magnuson and Orange Virus to bring something to market.

I had a 2015 Tacoma I bought new and kept for a little over 2 years. Way happier in the Tundra. Room and power are nice. Though my Taco looked pretty cool.

I had a 2016 Tacoma 3rd gen. Had issues the transmission jumping going from reverse to drive. A software update fixed it. I also hated the whistle in the self cleaning fuel system. The Scion FR-S and Tacoma have it. The truck felt really underpowered. I ended up selling it private party because trade ins are never worth it. They rip you off. Got me a 2017 Tundra a year later and no regrets whatsoever.

I got to do a bit of aftermarket research and see what I can carry over. I have pair of BD Squadron Pros, Squadron Sports, 30" S8, Switch Pro 9100, and Pedal Commander that could likely workout.

I had a 17 Tacoma Double Cab TRDOR, loaded. I always had Tacoma’s and thought I’d love my new one. Hated it- they messed with a good thing, screwed up the transmission, not enough power, sits too low, etc. Anyway, I knew I’d take a hit on a few updates it had by going to a Tundra, but man do I love this Tundra so far and don’t miss anything after finally trading.

I had a 99 ext cab then went to an 08 DC after the frame recall. Then was gonna get a 2016 DC after another grand recall on my 08. I test drove it and decided I would no longer be buying a Tacoma. When I got back from my test drive I saw my 2015 blue platinum tundra sitting outside, it for sale yet, guy was there trading it for a 16 with the bigger gas tank. I bought it a week later and my only regret was not buying a tundra sooner

I also had a 2016 OR CB 4x4 Tacoma. Loved everything about besides the lack of power. Drove me insane on having to floor it just to maintain my pmh going over a ity bitty hill.

Welcome! I also had a 3rd gen with some good stuff. Kings and such. The one thing I hated about my Tacoma was that it struggled going up hills. The tundra was a great move!
