Yeah, I'm not sure what's happening. I installed those JDM ASTAR bulbs in my 2018 SPORT which came with OEM LED headlights.

I'll find out for sure this week: I bought VLEDs for the front and rear.

Too cold to tinker right now. Think of the ambient temperature as lower than that of the mammary glands of an unattractive sorceress encased within a brassiere composed of a copper/zinc alloy.

Wait- you misunderstand. These bulbs pull right out of the rear of the assembly with a 90 degree twist- no disassembly of the headlight unit or front of the vehicle. It’s a tight fit for man hands, but you really don’t need to move anything.

Because of the different LEDs we're using, I believe if you have existing resistors for the tails, you won't need them for the front. If you have no resistors, you would need ones like this:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CMSD8CS/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8

I realized mine are different from r-1's, I found them on the CDN Amazon site last year, they have built-in resistors and the LED tab pattern is probably making them scatter (not a bad thing, as it reflects them brighter at night and are only on when signalling/hazards).

    IMG_9154.jpg

Without resistors, you will likely get hyperflash:

did mine by unbolting the washer fluid container and loosening the battery hold down and sliding the battery maybe 1 inch toward the fan. Just to be able to get hands in there. works easily.

+1 it's a real tight fit, especially the driver side, no need to remove headlights, I had my kid do it with her smaller hands, child labor lol

It's weird how the DRL Led reacted to my camera phone. Looks like its broken but it isn't. Here are some pics I just took outside. Hope they help those wanting answers.

I just installed them also on my 2018 and they’re definitely brighter and no hyper-flash.

If the design of these lights honestly make it difficult for people to see the signals, Toyota should be offering a solution.

I agree, but if it meets DOT minimums, there is no need for them to do it.

I have the V6 Tritons turn signal bulbs. I bought them on a flash sale the site had slightly discounted. Easy install and I think they perform great. I bought their vled resistors for the rear so I could add led bulbs in the back. Now other drivers easily can see my turn signals and I have piece of mind.

Has anyone purchased and installed the V6 triton switchback option? Interested in how the install went (still plug and play?) and which temperature was closest to OEM (5k or 6k) any info is appreciated.

Worth every penny. I have these for the front and back. These are kind of blinding but needed as the LED headlamps overpower the stock weak filament orange glass bulbs.

So bright that I can see, brightly the orange reflection off the back of people’s head in passenger cars in front of me at night with the LED headlamps on. The same goes for the rear blinkers. The car behind and driver’s face is already painted bright red with the V6 triton brake lights, but their faces turn even brighter red when the rear turn signal flashes.

I converted every single bulb on my 2019 Platinum to VLEDs and V6 Triton series. Even the reverse light and even added the VLED License Plate LED strip. Reverse is brighter than some cars headlights.

I probably spent a little over $500 with VLED on all these LEDS and that’s with their 20% Black Friday sale in November. I have no regrets or buyer remorse. Coolest upgrade was the 5k color temp LED puddle lights from VLED that are dimmable.

I did. However the switch back didn’t work for me because I have a 2019. The switchback works if your DRL is the same as the turb indicator. So if you have a 2018 with the two led strips or the single bottom, the switch back doesn’t work correctly as it relies on the DRL controller from VLEDs to switch back between amber and 5k. So if you have the newer 2018+ headlamps, just get the Amber v6 triton. If you have the older headlamp with the turn signal is also your DRL, then the switch back will work correctly and needs the resistor pack and DRL controller.

@Donkeypunch I read another thread on the V6 package, and still absorbing the data. Were resistors required? Thanks

Do the headlights have to be removed to change these bulbs? I don't remember. If so, I will wait a couple months to order bulbs since it's too cold for me to work on my truck right now

I installed JDM Astar 1260's in my 19 CM last night and had no issues getting to both of the lights in. Also these did not require any extra resistors and I have no hyperflash. The battery side had plenty of room to work to take them out and put them in. The passenger side with the fluid reservoir was a bit tight but if reach down between the reservoir and the side panel there is enough room to get the bulb out and replace. I didnt have to remove anything or take the headlight out. Took 5 mins tops to get them both in.

As others have said I can personally confirm that JDM Astar's are way brighter then the stock.
