Figured other members have trailers they pull with there Tundra's as well, so what are you guys using to wash and wax? I had a pop up and just purchased a Coachmen Apex nano travel trailer and curious on what products to use. Are you guys just using what you would on your trucks or something special?

I dont have a TT, but I think I'd use hydro2 as a sealant. Spray on, spray off. Easy and quick and lasts a long time.

Well then in that case I would treat it like a boat.

And inspect every seam, corner, and trim regularly. Any water behind fiberglass will cause delam.

I've been using jomax and bleach for years on my fiberglass fifth wheel. Removes bugs off the front easily, mildew, makes the glass crystal clear, cleans the awning with no adverse affects. Just mix per label instructions and use a commercial bleach (clorox outdoor bleach is not what you want to use) in a pump up sprayer. Work bottom to top in sections and rinse off. Dry it down or air dry then apply 303 protectant to any rubber or vinyl trim and coat the underside with chemical guys bare bones undercarriage treatment.

We put a Duratain coating on our trailer when we first bought it. It’s a kind of permanent sealant/wax. So, all we have to do to clean the trailer is a wipedown

Thanks for all the advice so far!

I ended up getting a 185bh model, 2017. Had a pop up I redid before this so bit of a change.IMG_20190101_141540027_HDR.jpg

No WDH, I just have a pretty beefy Gen Y drop hitch. I might add a friction sway control since it will mount up to it. Havent decided yet.

I have a Gen Y WDH, strongly recommend it. Before I got it, the sway at highway speeds was unnerving to say the least.

When I picked it up I had a 4hr highway ride home and it did remarkably well, not to say that it couldn't be worse if conditions were different.

So you have the WDH add on kit? Is it bars or chains? Are you able to back up with it connected?

It’s bars and chains. There’s a separate head that goes onto my drop hitch, and the bars go onto that head. The brackets then mount on the trailer frame:

    https://genyhitch.com/shop/weight-distribution-kit/

I back up with the head attached, and then connect the bars once the coupler is connected to the truck; super easy.

As earlier stated keep all joints top and sides caulked and sealed. The finish on a camper isn't like an automotive paint job, so I don't use High end sealers on it. Nu Finish is my go-to cheap wax. It holds up well and goes on and off pretty easy. Get a soft brush on a stick. Keep that roof spotless!!! Dawn dish soap and 303 aerospace spray on it. Are you outside or inside stored? Sun and UV rays are the enemy. Also water under the laminate.

Yeah I'm gonna get a soft brush on a pole. I am stored outside next to my house, inside storage in my area would cost a small fortune. I'm familiar with the caulking which to many people neglect and that's how damage starts. Thanks for the tips!

Those of you with edpm roofs, do they ever get back to totally white? I bought some Rubber roof cleaner and a protectant. I cleaned it today but its still pretty spotty in appearance. Is this just how these roofs are? Just making sure before I put the protectant on tomorrow.

We just bought a used PUP last year and really like. What made you switch? Just curious. I could see us one day upgrading but it would not be anything huge. We fit 2 adults, 2 kids, and our dog in the PUP.:)

I really liked my PUP and I rebuilt the whole thing, it was amazing looking and functioned very well but three things made me sell. The first is the wife didn't sleep that well in it, a friend offered me good money for it and I found my little travel trailer at a great deal. Its just my me the wife, daughter and our dog so this size camper suits us well. Plus its as big as I can go as in Virginia beach I'm required to have it parked behind the front of my house, I had 22ft of space and this is 21ft so its perfect.

Gotcha... it looks perfect for our needs too! Don't laugh but I've seen some pretty cool transformations on "Popup Princess" website. We plan on remodeling ours a bit too. Now that I have the tundra and can haul everything and everyone, I want to go to Kiptopeke to stay.

Don't get real crazy with roof cleaning... I used mild things like dawn dish detergent or simple green when I had EDPM... That membrane is paper thin. The Camplite is one piece aluminum, so my worries are over. I wouldn't sweat the discoloration.

Gotcha, I got some dirt off it and then a quick scrub the second time I wasn't getting anymore dirt so I figured it must be good. Thanks for the insight!

Wow, it looked good! There's something special about a PUP... that's for sure. I might take you up on the advice when the time comes. I really want to repack the hubs as I'm thinking it's never been done.

I live south of Roanoke about 15 minutes from Smith Mountain Lake. The power company I work for owns a lot of land surrounding the lake since they are the ones that created the lake way back when. Anyway, they have an employee only fee free campground and we stay there a lot since it's pretty close and free. I do want to venture out and go different places though.

My pup is in great shape (2013 Rockwood Freedom) but we still want to make it a little more modern. Painting cabinets, upholstery, new floor, etc.

Good looking pup! Making them a little more modern is fun, for my flooring I used peel and stick tiles from Lowes. Smith Mountain lake is a very nice place!! Re-packing the hub bearings is a pretty simple task and I to would do them if your unsure of the service history.
