My wife bought her first "luxury" car a few months ago. She has been super nervous about getting door dings and such..... parking way out of the way at lots. Maybe that is why this happened today. A seventeen year old girl didn't know the spatial limits of her car very well. Frak.11528.jpg

I park far away but I do try to park into a corner as opposed to the middle of nothing. Sorry that happened to her.

    Not nearly enough room here!
Parking "out there on the end" has always worked for me and if there are shopping carts available, then I'll make every attempt to 'take the high ground.' Less chance of getting slammed by some lazy worthless waste of skin's, run- away shopping cart!

I complain about people not knowing their cars all the time. It shouldn't be that hard people. But alas I see it all the time in shitty parking. Hope this blows over and corrects itself fast and painless for you.

Yeah, could be worse. Apparently, this is the girl's second accident. Grumble. The parents were nice and were just sort of shaking their heads.

Yes, it is a Volvo XC90. Osmium Grey with some new pinstripes.

We contacted the dealership and they have a couple of Volvo-certified shops that they use. The other party's insurance already set things in motion for getting an adjuster out and helping us start setting up the process. Not a huge deal, but my wife was pretty teary this morning. She worked her ass off for that car. She had always wanted to just go in a buy a car outright - and this was the first time she did that. It is her new baby, and she was pretty sad this morning.

She was pulling out, and just cranked the wheel. Physics, child....physics.

My wife said that when the police officer showed up, he told the girl to move the car out so he could get her vehicle out of the way. She went to get and and started to turn the wheel even more the wrong way and was going to continue dragging down the car, but her mom yelled at her to stop and jumped in the car and did it for her. Does not understand vehicle kinematics, apparently.

At least the kid didn't run. She got out, went into the two nearby establishments and looked for the owner.

Man that sucks. I am impressed that the kid took it upon herself to find the owner. So much "not my fault" these days it makes me sick.

I second damn near every previous post!! That sucks bad. Now you have a damaged vehicle. I’d shoot for diminished value OP!

My daughter is learning on a quad now. As soon as she can reach the pedals, she’ll begin training with 10ft of arms and a bucket in front of her, along with a 7ft wide box-blade sticking out 8ft in the rear. Powered by a 54hp turbo diesel (Kubota) with a manual transmission.

Amen! My oldest daughter was taught in a 2001 Nissan Xterra with a manual transmission. I took her up frequently to the backroads of the mountains and did my best to get her into as many "situations" as I could think of. Good on you for getting your daughter out early!
