NO LONGER HAVE A TUNDRA... Waiting
No issues with my 18, 4000k. Rain, fog, only when it was a little dirty cause of a road trip I did got bugs on it. But wipe off and cleared it

The camera in the windshield is tight against the windshield; a radar detector would not block it. If the windshield is dirty, that coudl block it.

I've got 7800 on my 18 and no issue, but once when I was getting misted by the truck in front of me, but then cleared off. Knock on wood.

Mine goes off and on all the time. I have the front leveled but it still has a slight rake.

I turn mine off every single time I get in the truck to drive it anywhere. I have absolutely no use for this "feature" and when it does work as it is supposed to do it is extremely annoying.

    Problem solved.

I get the joke, but sorry to break the bad news to you, the radar+camera technology is a common "feature" across the automotive industry now.
Gone are the days of simple, reliable, low tech vehicles.
The government continues to push OEM's for more safety features to help protect users from themselves.
Toyota is just trying to keep up with the times....

The first time the truck <ahem> “helped” me by squawking out a warning message in response to...absolutely nothing, I committed to turning that gd thing off prior to every trip, no matter how short. I love the way it drives (especially in beast mode), but the TSS can go f itself.

Here is what I'm not understanding about all this my wife has had her 2018 Camry sense january of 2018 and never any issues with this stuff. She now has 13k miles on it. Seems like the tundra has this issue maybe the height of it idk just thinking out loud .Carry on . I'm still loving my 08

My wifes 2017 Highlander XLE has way more bells and whistles than my Limited Tundra and hers has never gave any problems. So it must be a Tundra thing. But i still love my truck and wouldn't own anything else.

Maybe it's not that big of a problem as a whole, Tundras just have a better online community that can echo those who do have a problem? I mean is there a camrys.com, venzas.com, where people post their experiences?

The radar is behind the emblem. They are a new design and some had issues. U may need to have it replaced, its easy to.replace and tough to calibrate. But afterwards should work fine. You tube has a good video on how the radar system works from toyota. Itll give u an idea of what can effect the radar. But honestly ur tundra is bullet proof. Ive seen them with 280k miles and still pull hard when u floor it.

I had this same issue with my recent 2018 Platinum days after I got it, went back to the dealership, it was replaced. From my observation and in agreement with some of the other posts response, dirt throws of the sensor, this has since happened again to my truck and it typically disappears once everything seems clean.

It is a bit annoying to have to turn it off everytime I get in but it has become a regular part of my start-up procedure. I give the engine 30 seconds or so to build oil pressure before I do anything and I use that time to turn off the PCS. Eezee peezee routine. I also switch on Tow/Haul as well. Turning PCS off has no effect on any other system, I still have adaptive cruise, auto hi-beam, etc.

This is about 1/10 as complicated as a pre-start check list for a Cessna 150 so this stuff doesn't bother me one bit. Love my 2018 Tundra and I wouldn't trade it for any other vehicle on the planet.

    Dan
