One of my all time favorite cars. Stupid fast...

Do you still have the factory lifters? If so, might be a good option to swap out to the LS6 ones. Ask me how I know....

The LS1 lifters are #known for collapsing and shaving the lobe off the camshaft, which in turn sends hard metal throughout the motor. Rebuild time. This happens at high RPM. I know exactly when I did mine in. I was going into 4th in the 1/4 mile and spun the rears since I ate a bowl of dumbass for dinner and decided to run street tires. Dumb dumb dumb and stupid call on my part.

Just now seeing this thread. Pretty funny you ended up in a 4Runner LMAO! Good color choice, and good rig choice. Buuut they are nothing like a 4dr awd sedan.

Your decision was already made - but my advice would’ve been make sure all other cars are paid off and buy a vacation rental house if you don’t have one already.
Bend is the perfect place for one, then you can rent it out to me on the cheap!
Or I’ll trade you nights for a killer pad on the Kalama River up here LOL

In all seriousness, I’ve had a Duramax and Lexus IS350 as a DD with a built supercharged 4runner as a “hunting/off-road” rig.
Then moved to a Tundra, and Lexus GS350 F-sport.
I have young kids, and every car has to have 4 doors because I drop them off for school every morning.

I drive the Lexus when it’s not raining.
I put a lot more miles on the Tundra LOL.

I think the most important thing (in my opinion) is making the mods to your vehicles to make them “your own” and enjoying them as you modify them.

After the recent DD exhaust group buy, I love the Tundra a lot more and tend to leave the Lexus keys and pickup the Tundra keys. I’m also always scared of door dings and shit hitting the Lexus on the freeway. It kind of sucks driving a car you have to worry about.
The Tundra gets a rock chip? Meh - it’s a truck, it gets a pass. :D

Congrats on your new purchase - I’m sure you’ll love it!

I have this same set up... but I still want my STi back.
The only reason I got rid of it was because of LA traffic and my knee was getting killed hitting the clutch for an hour just to go 15 miles.

Def would've went with the Subaru. I have owned an 02 WRX, 05 STi, and an 07 Limited STi.
The Lexus is cool but it just isn't the same when it comes to sheer performance in the canyons.

I will have another one in the near future...but not the newer ones because i hate the new body style.

I hear ya! STI would’ve been great for the OP since he’s in a town that gets a decent amount of snow.
Although I would’ve recomended the S4 first though with a stage 2 tune.

The STI is too much on the kid-scene for my age (almost 40). I’m past the point of a Focus RS/GTI/STI - I have to drive clients around. I cross-shoppped a used M5/S6 but couldn’t find a nice one gently used.
Sucked to “settle” but it was the smartest decision for me.

I owned a 2010 Legacy GT and was deep in the scene. This is not a meme, it's the truth.

I found the Sti was to "kid like" I had a 2006 legacy GT wagon in college, but that was a different time. haha
I was able to test drive a new for about 2 hours from a dealer that knows me well. no sales men, I took a friend and we were both over it after that test drive, fun car.. But I had every young kid with a new license was throwing peace signs.. at least I think they were peace signs, may maybe gang signs

Ha!! That’s good! And funny you based decision on what was mentioned.
I have a friend in Bend that used to have an STI, and he loved my IS350.
Then he sold his STI and moved to a Tundra.
I loved his Tundra - while I had a 3500 HD GMC (and the Lexus).
He ended up selling his Tundra for a Raptor, and I moved from the GMC to a Tundra.
If you see a badass Raptor around Bend with a guy named Jake driving it - I know him, and he’s not a douchey Subi-type guy - he’s a Tundra-type guy LOL!!

No, I would’ve haven’t guessed that many. I have one guy in Salmon Creek in a black rig (N. Vancouver, WA) and another (white rig) in Ridgefield, WA.
I’m sure there’s many more throughout certain parts of town. Just not a lot of them named Jake. ;)
