the gen 1 has V8 power and (new) Tacoma size. Perfect for those tight trails. I really like them.

So true. I came from the nissan scene. 2 frontiers and an xterra. Lots of power for a v6. Tbh when I first drove the 1st gen i expected more power. But the new ones have way more. But the weight and torque would let me crawl every where. Truely do miss it.

None yet but just got 20" rims from a limited and am planning on getting more agresive tires and a lift kit after Christmas. Installing running boards now so i guess its starting .
I got a 2001or 2002(sorry getting old)first gen tundra and had a ton of problems with the front control arms(after going off road and getting 6 feet off the ground)after years of normal wear and tear I got rid of it bought a 2016 white sr5 right off the truck with 2 miles on it great truck but the engine was smaller 4.6 so I always thought it was under powered now I got a 2018 midnight blk sr5 and I have not regretted either purchase and still enjoy the ride and looks I get specially by chevy and ford owners. It's the best now that I got a 5.7 and my wife love it too. Dont regret it just enjoy.

I made a similar move, 2005 AC to 2016 DC. Mine wasn't by choice, some lady blasted through a red light and I boned her, both cars trashed. Was a super sad day/week for me, I loved that Gen1 Tundra. Insurance paid me out really well and I sold tons of stuff on the side. The new '16 is a beauty though. I'm pretty happy. Yes, I'd like to have both, but can't. There are many things about this new truck that the old one just cannot compare.
