Mine down shifts like a mother.. coming it decides to come out of overdrive sits there for a little and if the hill continues bumps it down again to about 3,000 rpm and hangs there until flat ground.

I'm pretty impressed at how smooth & non-frantic my trans is.

Got the steering rack on... kinda.

Got the outside tie rods on. Couldn't get the right tool to remove the inner ones. Was going to go at it with a pipe wrench but remembered I left my plumbing tools at my brother's house. Left the old ones on, they're broken in for sure but I cant see them making a problem.

Tightened up my lower ball joints, cleaned and reinstalled my brakes. Replaced the passenger side reservoir mount with a painted one. Filled upper arm bushings with a grease gun. Still need to do a few small things.

    • Replace driver side reservoir mount
    • Warranty replace battery while it's out?
    • Tighten that damn middle bolt on the steering rack. It's such a pain to get too, I remember there is a trick to it but can't remember the trick.
    • Top off steering fluid
    • Top off radiator
    • Zip tie steering boots
    • Install coilovers
    • Install tires and drive around the parking lot to bounce the suspension, then tighten upper arms
    • Go get alignment
    Easy

Hmm maybe shift points are different in the 03 tranny? Idk that’s my biggest complaint on my truck.

Honestly...beats me. It's a Maryland truck and hasn't had a frame replacement yet, so you'd think it'd be all rusty, but it's just got a couple surface bits here and there. I did use some PB blaster and bang the hell out of those old calipers with a hammer though so the mounting bolts would come off easier though :curls:

Still using rubber hoses. Perhaps I'll upgrade in the future. Do you think that could have anything to do with the slightly longer brake travel?

I don't think you'd get a diff b4/after because of rubber hoses, well not longer travel. That's likely different hardware or air in the line.

If you did the 13WL caliper update it typically takes a little more push on the pedal. You'll get used to it.

Rusty vs painted. Knew I should have painted these before installing.

Gonna squeeze this in before midnight. :D Filled the gas tank up this morning then added 1-1/2 cans of SeaFoam then proceeded to drive 100 miles on 1/4 tank. Considering that my last fill up was 200 miles on 3/4 of a tank, I'm happy.

Took about and hour total. Tools needed pictured. A metal blade in the sawzall made for nice clean cuts in the plastic. Very happy with the outcome. Will spray flat black on the aluminum freon lines to mask their appearance.

I was thinking the same. This grill could put some serious hashings on some beef.

Jerry, can you tell me about these reverse lights you mounted? Which did you buy? How was the install? Etc. Now that I have this camper shell on my truck visibility, especially at night, is going to be limited. I need to do this.

Quite a bit like mine but I put mine on the rear fender just above mud flap territory.

His may get more rise if he is closer to the bumper, mine use the bumper as a natural cutoff.

    Replaced blower motor
    New AC control knobs

    Replaced fuel filter
Replaced power steering pump and belt
    Flushed radiator
New led dome light. So bright!
    More to come.....

That one is kind of random.;) Did you find some neat aftermarket knobs or did the old ones break?

And I didn’t mention changing the lights behind them. My sister had it for a few months and broke them off. Three new ones 15 bucks on Amazon.

I'm such an idiot that I didnt even realize there were lights behind them. When I first got the truck I thought "what a shit design. how are you supposed to see the controls at night". I even remember looking for them when I took the dash apart to install my new head unit. It wasnt until I saw a post in this thread that I realized there were bulbs. Idiot!

I didn’t think about it either until the new mobs came. Can tell a light sits behind each one, illuminating it. They were easy. Mine were clear with a green rubber on them. Could not find green ones so went with amber.
