So, I finally bought a big boy tool chest...

Big boy tool chest at least by my standards. I outgrew my last toolbox that I have used for the last 15 years. So, I started researching tool chests. Much to my surprise, it turns out the general consensus is the Harbor Freight “US General” tool chest is the very best bang for the buck. This was a real surprise to me because I don’t associate Harbor Freight with very high quality products. Not trying to offend anybody...only my opinion. However, their tool chests are a huge exception.

These tool chests are extremely well made, are quite heavy, can hold a tremendous amount of weight, and feature very nice ball bearing drawers. The finish on their tool chests is not perfect but I don’t really care about that. There is also tons of storage space given the 22” deep drawers. The drawers also come with pre-cut drawer liners that work very well. This is a very nice cost savings because most tool chests do not come with liners and they can be expensive depending on the size of your chest.

Harbor Freight already has these priced pretty well. However, if you ask to speak with a manager they may honor the 20% off coupon they send out weekly. The coupon clearly states that it excludes tool chests, but my local store manger was nice enough to honor it.

If you are in the market for a tool chest, look no further. This chest, for the money, is an absolute no brainer.

Have been looking at these myself. They are far better than the equivalents sold at Lowe’s, homedepot, etc.

Nice find!! I was looking at these the other day at HF. Good quality for a reasonable price.

Wish I had room for a tool box. All my tools are hung on the wall.

Same here, I have been looking at those for awhile. Kind of outgrown my current toolbox.

Ive had the red version for about 6-7 years and a house move. Zero complaints.

Nice. You won't regret investing in a proper tool box.

Organization is key. Spend the time. It's worth it. Plus it looks cool af.

Can't wait to get mine and will be going with US General as well. I'm feeling a "buy once cry once" and will probably go with the 72" box. At $1100 its a steal. Just wish it came in black :(. That alone may push me to go with the smaller box, I just would rather not have a top box and use the top of the toolbox as a workbench/worksurface so we'll see. Congrats on the purchase

HF has nice boxes. Get you one of these to go along with that box, they are worth every penny. They were 189 at Christmas.

I have the 56" version, like it a lot.

I went from this 24" craftsman which served me well for many years
    [IMG]

After buying my place with a shop, I added the 2 post lift 1st then these.
Very happy with them at the price point I couldn't find anything close
