We took our Sunday and headed out to Joshua Tree National Park and took full advantage of the shutdown.

Although the news portrays it as looking like a war zone, it was really a sight to see. I saw no signs of the shutdown other than no one at the front gate and all but one park ranger.

We drove through the park from west to east and saw a few of the sights.

We brought our 5 year old husky, Miya, along for the ride too and she loved it.

Looking forward to getting the UCA’s, coilovers, and Total Chaos rear bump stops installed this week along with some new rubber.

    Let the build/fun begin!

It was a great trip. Our daughters first time in a NP as well. Plenty more to come. We will be in Zion in May for a few days as well.

Please do keep me in the loop.

    My plan as of now:

    Front:
    Icon Billet UCA’s
    King 2.5 Coilovers

    Rear:
    Total chaos Bump Stop Kit
(King 2.5 3 tube bypass or King 2.5 smooth body shock)
    (Deaver U748)
The rear is still up in air at this point.

    Wheels:
    Icon Rebound 17” - Black
(Tires) either Falken Wildpeak MT 295/70r17 or the AT3W in 285/75r17.

I did read about this. It’s sad that people would go and tear up the land-on the flip side the news did blow the whole shut down out of proportion(Typical)

It was perfect IMO. A bit cold for our daughter but it was still a good time.

Planning to go back out March/April in hopes it warms up a tad. Also would like to have the RTT by then :yay:

    Thank you!

I did not see any sign of chopped down JT’s. I’m sure it did indeed happen but from the main road, Park Loop, it was not apparent that people cut down any trees.

Well, I wish I could say the same about blowing it out of proportion, but unfortunately I'm one of the hundreds of thousands of federal workers currently furloughed. :( But I digress. If I lived closer to Joshua Tree NP or some other beautifully scenic recreational area, I'd use the time to visit it more often. One of these days I intend to take the family on a road trip out there and hope to experience it for myself!

I should have been more careful with those words. My apologies.

I was more so stating that towards the conditions at the NP, not necessarily the whole shut down itself. I don’t want to go too much further into it as it’s opinions vs. opinions but I hope that something changes soon. All federal ran entities need to be back in place ASAP. I know it is very much impacting a lot of people.

That is all I’ll say in regards to it. Don’t want this thread to derail onto that track.

So sorry to hear Ed. I hope it will bypass sooner for you and your family. Politics is a bitch and unfortunately affects many when it trickles down to the honest working.

We plan to start taking more trips now that our daughter is getting a little older(trying to walk already).

On the list this year is Zion, another visit to Joshua Tree and possibly Mammoth/Yosemite during the summer for some camping.

I’ll post trip reports as stuff comes up!

Man I wish we lived out west farther. Our idea of getting away for a day is visiting Amish country or going to Lake Erie. :( Nice pictures! Went there a few times when I was in Marine Corp and stationed at Twenty Nine Palms. Good times! Now only if I can remember half of them!
