Don't think I'd be trusting it anyhow, whatever seals it has to wear out sooner or later. And I'm just not that big of a rush to fill up the tank that I can't unscrew the cap a quarter of a turn and take it off.
    But others may dig it.

Just to clarify, I retired with two full blown pensions at the age of 51. I'm definitely not lazy. I'm simply thinking outside the box. Other manufactures are switching to this capless gas cap.

I'm jealous...I'm 55, at this rate i'll be 80 before retired...Didn't mean to imply anything about one's work ethics.

If it fails and leaks water into your fuel tank how would you know until it was too late?
Stant probably isn't going to cover the repairs on your truck if there is damage done from contaminated fuel.

Better question, does anyone make a real gas cap to replace the factory capless ones! Our mustang has one and I hate it!!

My work truck 2016 F150 has had one. Using for the last 2 years with no issues. Some people look at me weird at the pump like I don't have a cap at all lol. I kinda like it cause touching the gas cap, etc less gas stink on your hands.

Years ago I put a fill through cap on my Celica. Never any issues. Gas door is going to keep the rain out if your seal fails a little.
I only stopped using it as recent vehicles all have the gas cap attached.
some systems are vented, some are non-vented - that is likely the difference if one will work with your vehicle.
Oh - if your state test's gas cap seal at emissions, you can't use these fill-through caps unless state books say your vehicle should have one (factory equipped).

Why do you want this? It’s pretty easy to spin a cap off and all I see are potential issues.

How fast is a spring going to go soft? How fast will a rubber seal go bad? A decade?

I like them as they are arthritis friendly.

I'm just thinking outside the box. That's ok to do right ? Or is there some kind of rule preventing that.

    Not nearly enough room here!
Yep, that's why this cap caught my eye. I've had both hands 'repaired' and it's tougher than it should be getting gas cap tight enough. Plus, my hearing is such that I've set codes on the dash because of not hearing the gas cap "click." For the price, it'll be worth a try for me...….. Just checked Stant's website, (thanks jeremyd) and they don't list any help for us. Guess I'll keep '2-handing' the gas cap!

I don't care for these not having something to block the hole at the top as well . I wouldn't want to worry about what has crawled or fallen into that nozzle hole so once you put in the gas pump in it just pushed things through the rest of the way .

Oh. Mine has a flap. Here's the first hit I found for a "fill through gas cap"
    https://www.haganauto.com/product_p/fdcap.htm
It has a center flap that pushes out of the way - no unscrewing. Seems to work w/ both types of venting.

Do our Tundras error code when the stock gas cap is loose? I'm actually fine with OEM vs this mod.

without having the actual fuel door sealing out water/dirt etc, I think this would lead to other issues. If you look at factory capless setups, the door itself has a seal on it that keeps crap out of the area where the filler is.

Also, when Ram went to a capless design on the diesels, they added more fuel filters and a bigger water separator that required more frequent draining. So even then, they knew that the design wasn't the best.

With my Arthritic hands and half-deaf hearing, that "capless"cap could really help. I've searched and there doesn't look like there's one available for my 2010 though.:notsure: As far as wearing-out, I'm thinking the constant removing/re-attaching the regular caps would contribute to that. All there should be to 'fail' on the capless models, might be the flap and a shot of lube every now and then may help there.
