So, I pulled the trigger and purchased a 2019 Super White TRD Offroad! I LOVE it.
I have noticed something though that has been unexpected: When the floor vents are selected for any function, I have what I consider an excessive amount of air coming from the PANEL vents! This is unlike any other vehicle I have owned - and I have had a few over the years.
Has anyone else seen this behavior? I returned to the dealer the following day and started up an identical truck on the lot with the same behavior.

    Any thoughts??

I’ve noticed that big time going from a Tacoma to the Tundra~ especially being in the middle of winter now. I have to point my vents up in the air or close them as I run mainly on floor or mixed and it pours out of them. There are a lot of threads on here with similar issues and strange HVAC behavior, and like you, many have returned to the dealer and received the usual, huh?, or that’s the way it’s supposed to be.....

Turn the recirculation button on when the system is off to stop letting in outside air.

Tried that, but even with recirculating button pressed and running the heat, you still have air getting directed to the front vents, while on full floor setting.

Hmm, you may have a problem w/your vents then. I just went for a drive to try and get them to leak w/the system off and the recirculation on. As long as I didn't turn it to defrost (which turns the recirculation off) I could put it to any setting and any temp and I never got a whisper of wind thru any of the vents.

I think we may be talking about 2 different things. I can mimic what you’re doing by shutting everything down and not have air come through. What I think the OP and I are talking about is when you do have the fan on and you choose to direct the warm air to other locations on the dial other than the front dash vents, such as full floor mode, air still continues to come out of the front vents. Air will go to the floor, but like in my Tacoma, if you set the dial to full floor, or mixed defrost and floor, nothing would be hitting you in the face from the front vents. Does that make sense in how I’m trying to explain it?

Hmm, I just tried that in my truck and yes, floor vents come on by themselves and upper ones do not blow warm air.

My new 2019 does the same thing. My 2011 did not do this as much...maybe a little bleed through the vents, but not as much. I just have the vents shut because in the winter in Minnesota, I don't want the air coming out of the vents, I need it on the floor and windshield.

I see what you're saying now. Mine don't do that. If I say floor, they blow floor. Maybe they changed something in 2018?

My truck does the same thing, only vehicle I’ve owned that does it. Air flowing through the dash vents no matter what is selected. Thought about asking the dealer about it but I don’t want them pulling apart the dash for nothing.

Mine does this too, and I hate having hot air blasted at my face. Any progress or resolution?
