So I'm trying to make a go at youtube... a father/son project...
Bought a 2019 trd pro and we are gong to rig it up for overloading and filming our adventures... and subliminally messaging that if you own any thing less then a tundra... well your just less.
So i need some critical criticism .... what boring whats not...what will keep people engaged.

If anyone has tried standing in front of a camera and talk at the same time....let me tell you your mind goes in the trash quick.
    Plus the editing takes forever.

Edit out the "uhs and ums" and the minor pauses so the conversation flows more quickly. I'm also a meat and potatoes kind of viewer so I want people to get to whatever it is they're working on ASAP. The rambling that people do in videos like these drives me batshit crazy. A 20 minute video for 2 minutes worth of content =:frusty:. This video would get a thumbs down from me TBH because it's really more of a video log for you and your son. When you get into actually doing the mods, I'd cut the intros down to a ~20s high level overview of what you're doing in the video and then jump into whatever it is you're doing.

Yeah, if your purpose is subscribers, set something on fire in every video or do something in slow mo or eat a Tide Pod and you'll probably get millions of them.

I agree with @Sas. Fun videos for sure, nice element of comedy in the first one, but quite a bit of rambling. I get that talking into a camera lens is weird so itll take getting used to. Also kind of a weird audio issue in vid #2? Sounds like crackling.

I've always equated it to leaving a message on voice mail. It's a little weird until you fart at the end.

I bet @nk1794 has some good tips. He's got his own channel with pretty good content. I've come across his videos more than once when looking for an upgrade or to see how easy it is to install something.

LOL. I'm still learning as well. It's a challenge to talk in front of the camera. :D

A lot of the people that have tons of subscribers also have a lot of energy - both physical and vocal. I can only imagine how cheesy it must feel to fake it and over-exaggerate movements, but it seems to work for some reason.

Oh lord, there was a news story on earlier this morning where a 17 year old girl did that challenge while driving and hit another oncoming car. I think both people were okay as I recall.

Do you have a dash camera installed in your truck to show where it goes? Also, what video editing program are you using?

depending on the video...either a go-pro 4 mounted on the dash or a Panasonic GH5 ...with rode pro mic.

I am editing with Final Cut Pro.... and understand abut 1% of it.

I also just subscribed to your channel. Would you mind taking a look at mine? I'm going for something a little different with my channel and may not have all of the answers that you're looking for though.

But this channel is probably a good one to emulate and get tips from:

Do you have a hardwire kit for your dash camera? It's nice to not worry about batteries and having the wire tucked out of the way.

You could also throw up some flags on TacomaWorld and add a link to your signature. TW gets a lot more hits than this forum. The 3rd gen sub-forum on TW is full of a lot of dumpster fire threads that you can post your videos in without seeming out of place even if it's not related to the "topic."

Not a fan of watching videos of people talking while driving. Mix it up with some walk arounds etc. since your not driving you will be able to concentrate more on talking so hopefully you will have less “umm” and gaps.
