    Don't read too much into it.

    Companies settle out of court often times because it makes more financial sense than dealing with a long legal battle.

    No one conclusively proved that FCA had defeat programming in place to skirt around emissions testing. Rather, the focus has been on whether or not emission levels were exceeded during normal driving cycles; it seems that was the case, but unlike VW, the issue was resolved via a simple software update....by all accounts, its not the same thing as what VW was caught doing, so its a bit disingenuous to call it another "dieselgate."
