@Pudge has done some good work with a Harbor Freight polisher. I have that one, and a Torq polisher, but have not spent enough time using them to give an opinion. I know the Griots DA is generally considered the best of the budget friendly machines. I’d say if you’re not using it a lot, or doing anything major, get you the Harbor Freight one. It’s $70.00, and they’re almost always running a sale. Pads and polish are going to be an additional expense on top of whatever you get.

Try Beadmaker. It’s pretty reasonably priced. Depending on your budget, you can do a paint decontamination and add Hydro2 also.
I go through the product in detail here:

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/p-s-bead-maker-review.31713/page-2

At post 31, I list the process, along with adding a shopping list if you want to do it all. @Tundra4Pinay followed this down to a tee and has been very happy with it.
This, in my experience, will get you the best results short of paint correction and ceramic coating.

I'm not really a detail head, so I'm not sure what "major" would be, but the plan for the future is to get a project vehicle, so I think it will be getting more use in the future. I'm assuming major would be heavy paint correction or sanding oxidation.

I followed Jason's step-by-step process of decontaminating, washing and hydro2 and Beadmaker and am very happy with the results. The finish on my Black Tundra is mirror like in reflection, and very shiny. In the bead maker review thread I've posted up pics, so check it out. Also, you will want to rub your hands on your truck every chance you get, as you will find how slick the process makes the finish.

Went off roading got the pin stripes. Used nufinish scratch remover. Mostmofmthe scratches came out, but I cannot get the rest out. When wet they disappear. What product can I use and how to use it to get that last bit out?

    Thanks in advance

I like my harbor freight DA, it works pretty well. It's a little loud and has some vibrations that I'm sure the more expensive brands eliminate but for me it's good. I recommend buying a 5" backing plate and pads for it. 5" seems to be the sweet spot for pads. The HF polisher comes with 6" which are fine but not ideal. I dont see myself getting a new polisher any time soon.

Another option that I didn't see mentioned, which is a little closer to your price point, is the Porter Cable 7424XP. I have mine for 7 years now, use it all the time and have had zero issues. I did step down to a 5" backing plate and pads instead of the 6" and it works great. I also have a 3" backing plate and pads which come in very handy.

    It's a great sander too!

I have 2017 tundra in Barcelona red and it seems like the more I try to take care of my truck the more damages the paint gets. I have polished and waxed my truck and whenever I was the truck I do the 2 bucket method and I spray wax as I dry. Whenever I don’t have time to bust out the power washer I go to a touch less wash (no spinning things only jets of water) and I dry it off with ONR. Then I go back and buff it off with a dry microfiber towel. Despite all of this my paint is full of swirl marks (I wash and dry in straight lines). Is there something I am doing wrong? Should I now be buffing off the onr with a dry towel? If not how should I clean off any residue? Thanks!

Your truck looks great! That being said...This is the reason why I buy only white vehicles (plus they are the fastest:rofl:). I know that there are imperfections in my paint...but with white it does not show as bad. A vehicle that gets on the road is going to get imperfections, and unless it is a show vehicle, you will always be battling to remove the imperfections. I wouldn't worry too much about it because your truck looks great. I had black vehicles for 20 years and I am done with that. Too hard to keep looking good.

I did the no rinse method before and some people swear by it... but it did not work for me. Rinsing & washing then claying, then polishing, then waxing works great for me. I only polish twice a year, and wax often.

My favorite wax is expensive but unbelievable. I might try a sealant in the future though:

Another reason I love my CR Spotless. No need to dry at all. Cuts down on paint contact significantly.

Disclaimer: I had a free sample of it. Yes, it was amazing, but definitely not budget friendly. Here’s a couple of pics from the day after I put it on.

I can’t recommend it enough to someone who has the budget. It also completely solved my hard water issue. I probably introduced plenty of swirls racing to dry my struck before it left hard water spots. I always had to rush, so hard to be careful.

Thanks for all of the great recommendations!!
For now, I'll probably just use some Maguiar's Ultimate stuff on it to get me through the winter because it's too cold to do the whole process.
When it gets warmer I'll spend a weekend and do it right.

Thanks for the detailed response! I do use foam applicators and also thoroughly check my microfiber towels after each wash. One thing I just thought about is that whenever I dry my towels I throw them in the dryer on high heat. Do you think this would be causing my towels to be come rough? They don’t feel rough or anything but just a though.

Also, did you do the ceramic coating yourself? I’ve been thinking about doing it on my truck and my wife’s car.

Thanks man, and even though my truck is red I got to agree that white is the fastest color! Lol (my old truck was white). Do they make that wax in a liquid form or is it a paste?

I do inspect my towels after they are washed. I’m thinking the dryer might be causing the microfiber “hooks” to harden and maybe this is what’s scratching my paint. I’ve never had good luck with the blow dry method (I used a leaf blower) it feels like I’m just chasing the water around. But I am mixing towels, I usually toss them all in a bin after each use and then take them all to wash at the same time. I might be going about this the wrong way. I think I might buy some new towels and use them for just the paint.

I believe it is only a paste, but this stuff is the best imo. My car shines, and soon to be Tundra (when I actually get one haha)! You don't need much and it will last for a long time.

Never thought about it before now. I think im going to do the ceramic coating on my truck and buy some new towels once I do that...

That look awesome! I also have a DA polisher and have some experience with it. As you stated, I only use the foam pads as well. How has it held up? Its almost been a year right?

Any advice on safely removing overspray from powder coated wheel, door handle, and factory running boards? I do not feel like going back to the dealership because every time they fix something, they also mess something else up.
