    "But demand doesn't warrant it." Not trying to argue the point - but curious how they (Toyota) know this? It seems every time I have seen this topic come up (it comes up fairly often), I see quite a few guys responding in a positive manner for the longer bed. I'm also on a national bow hunting forum quite a bit. Many hunters drive Tundra's it seems. This topic (Tundra bed length) comes up quite often on there as well, not only for storage but sleeping back there - as 6.0 or 6.5 is much more comfy than 5.5. again, I understand having 10 guys comment about bed length doesn't warrant retooling a factory - more curious as to how Toyota gets their info on things like this.

    I’m shopping for my first truck, and thought I knew what I wanted (Limited DC 5.7L), because my bro-in-law says sacrificing bed length for aesthetics is a bad move.

    However, it’s apparently a rare build, because I can’t find one even in San Antonio, TX, (where they’re born!).

    It’s got me questioning my priorities.

    CrewMax with 5.5’ bed.
    -Kid is 6’ tall.
    -I want the limited package bc I’ve been waiting for 12 years to buy one and I’ve earned it lol.

    DoubleCab with 6.5’ bed
    -Occasional building projects requiring hauling of building materials
    -Occasional camping trips requiring hauling gear and two kayaks

    Someone make me feel better by telling me their CM with shorter bed is plenty to haul building materials and kayaks, and you don’t regret your choice at all.

    Readylift 3/1, Rigid D-series fog lights, Supernova V.4, F/R Coverking covers.
    I have a crewmax. Have never had any issues hauling any lumber for any projects I’ve had.
    I also have 2 12ft Long kayaks myself and haul them with the tailgate down and strapped in with no problem.
    If you have passengers often and need the rear seats then definitely get the crewmax. The 5.5ft bed is plenty for most use.

    But if you rarely have passengers then I’d get the DC.

    I went with a CM for the extra space in the backseat for family. And trust me, I love the huge backseat, but I'd be willing to give up some of that space for a longer bed.

    My buddy has a double cab limited, but it’s a 2nd gen.

    Honestly I wish I had gotten an 8’ bed enough that I don’t think I could live with a CM and the little bed. And I’ve had 6 adults in my DC. Just last month my girlfriend and I along with my friend and his wife took my truck on a 500 mile trip towing a 7’x14’ enclosed trailer and nobody complained one bit about the lack of rear leg room.

    I had a tundra Long Bed for years. Yes, I could put a full sheet of plywood in there but didn't need to do so very often.

    Now that I have the CM with short bed I got a bed extender:
    (I got the AMP version with no-drill brackets)

    Makes the bed into 7.5ft for those times I need to haul something longer. Other benefits:
    - Great turning radius
    - Cavernous interior! No one will ever bump their knees, front or back seat. Manspread all you want.

    Can't speak to kayaks, don't have one.

    I would go in a slightly different direction (not trying to hijack the thread) and say I would like to see a DC with a 5.5" bed. I think that would look cool - and still be functional.

    Demand isn't just people wanting it. It's a combination of that desire and the cost to do it, which is then going to be an increased price tag. That increase in cost is what kills the demand. Just like we all see tons of people wanting a longer bed, we all see plenty of people complain about the "bare bones" level of the Tundra for the price compared to brand X. If there were significant money to be made without causing extra issues, Toyota would have done it. The demand isn't high enough.

    CM was the single best choice I made. Buy a trailer no need for building materials or construction debris in that gorgoues truck!
