So as I’ve seen being a problem on a lot of older cars not only tundras, my trucks headlights are very yellow. Instead of buying a new set of headlight housing, I was curious if there were any good remedies on fixing this. I have seen a lot on the internet but wasn’t sure if maybe y’all tundra peeps would know anything good. Thanks!

I have found that the headlight stuff to polish them doesn't work as good as this stuff.

If you have access to a DA and a foam pad this stuff will clean them up to great.

After trying a few different products & methods, I replaced the old housings with brand new OEM Toyota housings. I should have done this long ago.

So what if I don’t have anything to really buff it with? Like could I do it with a microfiber towel?

Just a polisher. If you don't have a random orbital polisher you could probably buy one of the foam things to put in the end of a drill.

If just doing it by hand a old sock will work just fine just takes a lot longer. With a polisher it literally takes a couple of minutes.

    This is no bullshit.

Get a can of Repel brand bug spray. The can with 40 DEET. Then use it like the other products. But be sparing. You will be shocked how well it works. You'll be even more shocked that you've been spraying the kids down with it and sending them out into the back yard in summer time.

And you'll be all of 5 bucks into it.

Learned of this from some BMW car guys who have been using it for 20+ years.

Yes. I get on this board and talk about new Tundra (I have a 2017). But my daily driver is 1997 T100. Works perfect on the OEM headlight plastic covers.

Deet is some nasty stuff. It doesn't surprise me.

Just looked into it and read that the feet actually melts the stuff off of your plastic so I’m not sure if that’s what I’m gonna do but maybe I will.

Yup. Essentially that's what the others do too. DEET is just way more concentrated. Hence the warning to be sparing.

3M kit is what I used last week. It was $11 on eBay. I posted pics in the other thread.

I just did it right now and it’s too dark to take a picture but just with a microfiber towel it looked wayyy better after about 10 minutes. I’ll post a pic tomorow

I've used several of those store bought kits over the years on different vehicles and even paid someone to do them once. They always seem to come back hazed in a few months. I decided to just replace the lights on my last truck. Thankfully my Tundra factory lights still look good.

My 2011 headlights were pretty bad. Bought a restore kit. Driver's side cleaned up nice. Passenger side seems to have it's problems from inside the lense. Considered pulling the lense by baking it in the oven. But I figure it wouldn't last long and kinda hard to justify even trying it. Anyone ever found a replacement lense only? I doubt they would fit very well though.
