Hey guys I have a question, not sure if anyone else has experienced this issue. I have a 2014 5.7 tundra. Just in the past few weeks I started noticing a longer crank after the truck sits over night or for a few hours. At first I thought winter temp is dropping no biggie.(located in northenn mudwest). One morning it started hard truck was shaking, misfiring, cel light came on. Checked code misfire on cylinder 1. The truck does have 99k, I figured it's due for pluds. Replaced them this past Thursday. Old plugs didn't look horrible, no carbon tracking. Just Thursday morning it took forever to start I've noticed a very long extended crank up to 5 seconds or more. Until the truck fires up. Had another shake misfire symptoms again had to hit the gas pedal to kick it out of it. Replaced the battery Thursday morning checked it said required charging, later that morning started it up again same lag. Checked alternator charging 13.99-14.0volts. any ideas what it might be? Fuel regulator? Any way of checking pressure ? Any help would be great. At the point where I might just get rid of it.

Quick and easy turn the key to "on" twice for about 5 seconds each time, then try starting it.

Those two turns should prime the fuel system and let you know if that's the problem.

If that helps then the check valve has probably gone bad. Good news is it's not anything serious just annoying. I had to do the same with my old Jeep and drove it that way for 2 years daily.

Don’t give be up on the truck. I agree with @Festerw. It sounds like a holding pressure issue. Not sure if Toyota has a holding pressure spec for the Tundra. If you have access to a fuel pressure gauge, start the vehicle and let it run until you have fuel pressure. Shut the vehicle off and observe the gauge (pressure vs time). Does the pressure rapidly fall off? If it does, and the vehicle sits for several hours you may experience a long crank.

A tech I work with actually heard it yesterday afternoon, he did advice me to cycle the key a few times. I did that this morning and it seemed to start easier. Any ideas on where I can hook up the pressure gauge. I can't seem to find any access.

Hey guys finally took the truck in on Friday to have the tsb done, I was skeptical about doing it and not have any change, had it done was charged more than what I was originally told but whatever. Gave her the first start of the morning yesterday and she fired like a bat out of hell. I was so relieved it did work.

Sorry for the thread resurrection, but what TSB was done? Mine is doing the same thing, if it sits overnight or for a few days, it will usually crank for a while before starting, but after I've driven it any length of time, it starts right up no problem until it sits for a while again.

Flex fuels had a TSB for fuel pump and ECM reflash requirement for e85 alcohol content, something along the lines...
