Anyone know if there is a way to turn off the headlight-on warning? Lights are set to turn off in like 30 secs. Do not really need the warning.

    This is on a 2017 SR5

    Thanks!

It's only like 3-5 secs as I get out of the truck. Was just curious if it could be turned off as you can set how long they stay on for so why have an alarm.

I am interested if this is possible. It’s annoying going from my wife’s 4Runner which doesn’t make any noise back to my truck that screams if I leave the lights on.

Gen 2 can be changed by Techstream. Gen 3 probably can be too.

Did anyone ever come up with a way to to turn off the headlight-on warning? This is extremely annoying! I have my lights set to turn off in 90 seconds. This allows me time to get my disabled wife from the truck to the house without stepping on a rattlesnake. The lights are set to turn off automatically so there is no need for the loud annoying buzzer screaming in my wife's ear. I asked my dealer to turn this off and they said it "could not be done for safety reasons". I was hoping that some may have come up with a fix by now. Any ideas?

Where do you adjust the time the lights stay on?

Once you're in Techstream and connected to the vehicle. I believe the path is to open "Main Body" and then on the left there is a button for "Utility" which brings up an option for "customize" and within those options is one for "light control." Once you're in there there is an option to select the headlight off delay as none, 30s, 60s, or 90s.

I changed my remote door locks to all open on one key press and changed the vehicle to lock/unlock all the doors when I shift into/out of park (rather than after reaching a certain speed). Those are all available under that "customize" section. You can also do things like turn off your seatbelt warning, which is nuts that you can do that but not shutoff a headlight warning for headlights that automatically shut off anyway.

As far as the headlight warning sound, I saw some screenshots of Carista (alternate ECU programming software and bluetooth OBDII connection) from a 2019 TRD Pro and they did have an option to turn off the headlight warning sound. I'm curious now if it's an option in techstream for some of the 2.5 gens, but not all, or if the option to shut it off is tucked away deep in another menu.

I have also found that pretty much all of these customizations are available through your entune head unit. Check your owner's manual for customizations. Mine are on page 543. There's a lesson here about reading your owner's manual. I think some of the deeper modifications require techstream. An additional caveat on that is that your VCI cable matters when you are using techstream. The chinese knockoff cable I'm using does not have all the functionality for programming that a real v 2.0.4 VCI cable has. I can access the unit with mine and make some changes, but I think I have fewer options.

I just did it with a OBDLinkMX+ from Amazon and the Carista App. You get a free month trial of Carista with the one year sign up and you can cancel in that first month. You could even return the OBDLinkMX+, but it is handy for checking and clearing codes. Long story short. You can shut off, or turn on, the headlight on warning with this method and ultimately spend $0 and not leave your house.
