I installed the TOYTEC 1-1.5" shackles about 6 months ago and had them at the 1.5" setting and just last week changed them to the 1" setting and now notice a little bit of squeaking when I get in/out of the truck or when im backing into the garage and hit the brakes so I went to the back of the truck and pushed down on the bumper and it squeaks. Could it be the shackle is over tightened ?

Did you re use OEM bushings or replace with recommended poly bushings? Could be the issue. Maybe...

Has anyone had any issues like this with the COACHBUILDER shackles? I will have to drop the spare again tomorrow after work and see if thats the problem. Anyone happen to have a photo of what I should be looking at? Does the spare have to be dropped to see it or only if it has to be grinded down ?

Looks like the problem is the bed bolts. Swapping out the oem leaf bushings help eliminate bed bounce which is a good thing. My Toytec Shackles are at 1.5" position. Going to lower them to 1" to regain more leaf spring arch. May have to do some grinding apparently...

My old Toytec shackles did the same thing at the 1” setting. I just clearances the shackle a bit with a carbide cutter

Good Idea! Might be a good idea for ToyTec to modify the shackles. Easy Peasy...

Like others have mentioned it's a bed bolt making contact when you have it on the lowest setting. I just grinded the bolt down problem solved.

Thanks for the info and pictures! I called them before I lowered it from the 1.5” setting and asked them is the center hole 1.25” and the bottom hole 1” and they told me no the center hole would be the 1” setting and NOT to use the bottom hole as it would hit the leaf springs. I moved it to the middle hole so I will look at the bed bolts tomorrow and hopefully that is what it is !

I thought that this note referred to the lowest hole - not the middle one used for the 1” setting. You can’t use the lowest hole because the truck frame hits the crossbar in the shackle. If this note is for the middle hole on Tundras then they should make that more clear.

That said, it’s a truck and off-road there are all sorts of creaks and rattles. ;)

The shackles are settable at 1.5" or 1", ie...the top and middle holes.

"Note: Lowest hole setting is not used on Tundras"

**For vehicles with the TRD Exhaust, the exhaust will need to be modified to work with shackles.
    >>>>>>** We have seen a few models which may require minor grinding on the bolts which interfere with the shackle at the 1" setting.

I obviously can't read - I totally missed the note in bold about grinding the bolts. They should probably make the text red and flashing - maybe add a few popup windows too. :D

Or make a minor change on the shackles so you may not have to trim the bed bolts at the 1" setting. Sometimes those bed bolts have to come off and trimming may make the bed bolt a bitch to remove.

I like the idea of grinding a little off the shackle. Agree that grinding the bed bolts may make them harder to remove if needed.

I think that I will just go higher in the front and back to make room for bigger tires.

I’d like to go a little higher in the front but that involves a different kit than what I have now which is 3” front right now. Might do the 4” READYLIFT in the spring

Interesting, now I need to look at my shackles as they are at the 1" setting. Been thinking of going to the 1.5" setting

A dremel with a grinding wheel may let you just grind away some space between the bed bolt and shackle without needed to remove the shackle.

Maybe....remove the bed bolts and then trim them..I may just do that myself the more I think about it..
