I picked up a prodigy p3 with the correct plug very easy install. But as soon as I turned the truck on my whole dash lit up. Traction control off engine light parking brake none of the info on the dash screen worked.
I put back the factory controller then I discountected the battery and let it sit then connected it. Turned the truck back on and no more issues.
Has anyone had this issue changing out the factory controller for an aftermarket one on a 2016?

Does your shutoff with the truck or is it constantly on?

    That's what I assumed.
Yeah I plugged it in but it didn't shut off with the truck like my old Prodigy P2s would on previous trucks. So I got a little bit worried there I mean it's a simple install so I didn't understand what the hell I screwed up.

I mounted mine to the steering column bracket. When i was putting everything back together i found the ground post. It's on the left side of the column. I was afraid i might get back feed through the throttle by wire if i used that bolt

Not sure if it applies for the Tundra, but the 4Runner (2017) SR5 we got rid of had a Primus IQ in it. The harness the RV dealership used was not the latest one as Teknosha had to update it with a diode in their harness to prevent backfeed.
The first harness caused similar issues with backfeed the first time you touched the manual override on the Tekonsha.

I'm a retired truck and equipment mechanic. I ran into the same problem as you when someone grounded a 2 way radio to the throttle by wire bolt. But i don't know if it's the same on the Tundras

Try plugging it in with out the ground. If it don't act up try grounding it on the ground post.

Yeah I'll try different ground and see what happens.
On a different note I bought a truck and they had hooked up the radio to the windshield wiper wires so the radio would only come on when the windshield wipers were on
yeah I'll give it a shot I didn't think these things were that finicky appreciate the info.

I ordered my P3 and wire adapter from Etrailer.com and it was plug and play after that, no wierd dash lights or anything like. The light on the p3 will stay on for a bit after the truck is turned off but per the P3 manual/instructions, that it normal. Not sure why you would have to ground the white wire as mentioned above, the adapter took care of everything, made it plug and play? Mine truck in a 2016 CM 4x4.

I ordered 2 harnesses one has no ground the other one does. I'm going to give those a shot today. But I've just been dealing with the Flintstone factory brake controller for now 176k miles and now I decided to change it out lol.

Reading through the reviews, the harness with the ground wire are being used in the Tacos and the ones with a direct plug are being used on the Tundras. Maybe for the Tindras all we need is the direct plug harness and not the ground harness.
