I don't have drop down hitch

I'm about to leave but don't have a drop down hitch for my TT, I do but the attachment I have wont let me put sway bars on. Can I tow it with my original tow ball hitch at level height or do I need to have a drop down? 25 ft TT about 5500 lbs

 

Lets make sure we are speaking the same language. A drop-hitch simply determines the height of the ball relative to the receiver. You typically want enough drop to insure the trailer is level. We can't answer that for you, as it depends on your particular setup.

A weight distributing hitch, provides torsion bars that apply leverage between the trailer and the truck, in order to shift the weight forward towards the axle. (my guess is, this is what you are calling "sway bars"). Given that your TT is 25' I would highly suggest you obtain a weight Distributing hitch setup. These hitches typically have an adjustable shank (drop hitch) which will allow you to adjust the ball height up or down as necessary. Finally, many WD hitches also have an attachment point for an anti-sway device, (typically a friction device) which will minimize sway. This is also recommended when towing a relatively long trailer with a high wind profile (read travel trailer)

 

Thanks for the reply. Yes a weight distribution hitch. I have a reg hitch that is dropped down but no sway bar things. I just left it home, better to be safe than sorry.
