Driver, the Castle in Olean was torn down a few years ago. There's a bank building sitting there now. Shame too, I enjoyed dining there.

Odd you can't view my pic, I can view it back over on P.2. I copied & Pasted it from another file on this site.

    Many to come.
This is our plan. Camper on the truck, trailer with bikes in the back. Heaven!

It works for me even not on the highway which I don't get on unless needed. What I do is lay it stickin up on the tailgate and secure the front via hooks at bottom of bed so no bouncin around. What also help is if you have shorter boards under those, 8-10 ft. If you drive like a moron off road with that kind of load then that's on you

I used to haul stuff in the cab stickin thru the window and would use head rests to go in and help keep it straight and so it didn't move around,,mostly it was trim stuff that went thru there, 1x2's and 4's

Anyone who thinks you can take a 14 ft length load off the the road with a 5.5ft bed is a moron at best for sure.

Last time I checked Texas has pimples for mountains. By the way, I'm a Texan. Born in Corpus Christi, 1955. I got over the Texas is biggest thing a long time ago. Alaska can fit 2 1/2 Texas. Just saying.

Look, I've done it, many many times. Don't know what your thinkin for off roadin, but if you're talking about goin down the side of a mountain or muddin then duh, don't take a load with you. That's just common sense. I'm talkin about big potholes, rocky terrain and nice size inclines geo master.

Thanks for the Geo Master prop. Would make a good user name. Can't go down the side of the mountain until you make it to the top. You are absolutely correct. Common sense always comes into play. If you are 4wheeling moonshine off the grid, you'd better make sure nothing gets broken . Flat land off road master. SARC!!

Man someone must've really screwed you over here, you have some serious insecurities about this great state, or maybe her size intimidates you. Good luck on your climb

I would love a DC with an 8' bed. For me, the choice was obvious. I know a lot of guys have the Crewcabs. But they look too much like a Honda Ridgeline or any of those other wanna be trucks. They look funny to me.
I use my bed every day. I had an 07 DC and only had someone sit in the back a couple times. I do use the back of my DC to haul all kinds of stuff but the bed is much more important to me.

I can put one of my quads in the bed and still close the tailgate. Can't do that with a CC.
It's all just a personal preference what works best for you.

Zero insecurities. I just call all it like I see it. I love Texas. I visit friends in Victoria every few years and we usually head south and do some surf fishing. Texas is very large sort of. Alaska's shear size, (2.5 times larger than Texas), wildness and beauty on the other hand can be very intimidating. Especially when you are no longer at the top of the food chain up there. Gives you a different perspective on the lower 48. Everything is small compared to Alaska. I hope the Longhorns have a good football season this year. See, I don't dislike Texas. I may even go get some Shiner after work. Don't mess with Texas.

If you want to get busy in the back seat, the Crewmax allows for absolute sexual acrobatics. You could literally have a threesome back there and probably even have room for one more. I am amazed how big it is back there; it's like a motel room.

How do you like that Kodiak? I've been trying to figure out what I want to get next.......can't make up my mind. As with buying the Tundra, I'm into RELIABILITY, but at the same time I think Airstream is overpriced for the money that you need to put up to get one, but maybe I'm looking at it the wrong way.

If anyone else has opinions about travel Trailer RELIABILITY I'd love to read them. I've read a lot of reviews on the internet, but it seems those reviews are mostly about the cost comparisons of buying a TT as opposed to RELIABILITY.

I've only had it a few months but I did research them for a couple years looking for exactly what I wanted. There were a few minor issues with it but nothing I couldn't fix. I did add an inverter and will be adding solar as soon as I get everything bought. This is the 279 RBSL Model. Outstanding floor plan.

Love the slideouts on that TT, I want my next one to have them. I'm thinking of something in the 25' long range, only just started looking at them again since I bought the pickup. I see your Tundra is the same as mine only yours is white. Mine is posted on P.2 this thread, Sunset Bronze 5.7L. Have 2k on it as of last weekend. I can see you are a serious Travelin' Man.

That picture you posted, was that taken in your driveway?

Got a CM, before my daughter was born. I'm glad I did. The rear facing car seat fits perfectly and my wife isn't kissing the dash.

The bed is small, until you drop the tailgate. It was designed to still fit 4x8 sheets of plywood/drywall perfectly to the edge of the tailgate. I've done it on several occasions. I've even fit a four wheeler in the bed with the tailgate down. Many say the tailgate won't take the stress of much weight, I'd have to disagree to an extent but it will surpass the new Ford in strength.

The rear window is a plus in the CM. Roll down all the windows and it's like a convertible minus the roof.

It all goes back to what you are using it for. Mostly family vehicle with some hauling get the CM. if you're a contractor with grown kids, get the DC.

But a full queen mattress will fit in the double cab bed, and that's where they're going to wind up anyway. Just toss them in the back and enjoy the drive to your favorite destination.

Just came across this thread and thought I would input my 2 cents worth. I myself didn't want to have a short bed because I wanted to be able to haul things with no issue. I actually tested a Silverado double cab and my brother and uncle (both 6'2) would be the guys who would be sitting in the back so I brought them along to test the back seat space. My brother climbed into the 14 Silverado double cab and was hunched over. It just wasn't going to work. We tried the Tundra double cab, and he and my uncle both had plenty of room. We actually took it on a 2 hour drive and they were comfortable. Now, hauling a bunch of stuff in the cab with 4 guys is really tight (comic boxes, clothes, things bought from a convention etc lol). For my next big trip, I'm getting a bed cover so everything can go back there and be protected by the elements. Anyway, the truck I got was a 2014 Tundra SR5 double cab. I really like it and it has plenty of back seat room for my passengers and I get the large bed so I don't sacrifice any space when I haul. I may be wrong on this, but I think its the largest double/extended cab in the segment. Anyway, I love my double cab lol!
