Help- My 2012 Tundra has begun to start up unexpectedly at random times.
I removed the batteries from the sending units and it still does it. Hate to bring it to the dealer but would consider pulling a fuse.
It started about 5 time overnight and fortunately I heard it and was able to shut it off.

Have you had the remote starter for a long or is it new to you? Any other work done to the truck recently?

Side item: Some starters can be set to automatically start a vehicle if the outside temperature drops below a certain threshold.

Thanks for answering. The starter remotes are original with the truck. No recent work on truck.
There are no options for auto start that I know of.
Is there a fuse or other way to disable the remote start function?
I think the truck shuts off it runs too long, but not sure.

Disabling usually isn’t as easy as pulling a single fuse because depending on the starter it may also have an immobilizer or other theft deterrent built in. Also depending on the model, if you disconnect the remote starter you may lose your keyless entry.

Is the remote starter a Toyota OEM or aftermarket dealer install? If you can describe the remotes or post a picture of them it will help. In particular, are there any brand names on the remote.

I believe that the system is original; it was installed already on the lot when I bought it.
The unit is oval, about one inch wide, two inches long
A button with a lock symbol is on top, then an unlock symbol and then a button with a key ( to start) and then two buttons side by side at the bottom with a "1" and a "2".
    On the back it says:
    mobile.audiovox.com
    FCC ID: ELVATID
    Part no. 095Bpr

That’s not oem Toyota. It’s aftermarket. If you wanted to spend the $, find a local installer that sells audiovox to fix it. Some car stereo place in your area should sell them.

It's possible it was hacked and someone is starting it nearby, testing to see what your response will be. It could also be an RF signal interference and something innocent is triggering it. I have seen garage doors with a ham radio, accidentally.

Thanks for all the help. I'll probably have to bring it in to a shop.
Might have to disconnect the battery to keep it from starting when I'm not around.
    Thanks again!

Thanks again for all the help.
I did a search under audiovox and someone suggested that I try turning the ignition switch on and off five times rapidly.
I tried it and so far, it hasn't started on its own. This is intended to "reset" the system. Hope it continues to work.
By the way, I love the Tundra; it has preformed great. Still has the original brakes after 7 years and 50000 miles.
    Happy New Year to all!
