Yea, it’s apples to oranges. I think most vehicles listed in this post are withing range of each other.
Now if we want to talk Jeep Grand Cherokee or Dodge Durango - that’s when you see a significant drop LOL.

We had dinner with some friends last night that have a Durango for the past year. She had a loaded MDX before that. She says she loves the Durango more. They leased it though. GT model $2000 down and $440 a month.

Doing a quick search around here in Denver makes it look like the MDX does not hold it value all that well. Maybe because they are a dime a dozen?
I think the front end is brutal on the older models. How did they think that grill was good looking?
When my wife decides her Highlander is ready to go I’m going to steer her towards the CX-9 or RX350.

My business partner had a 2015 Durango black pacakage and just got rid of it 3 months ago. He was back to the dealer once a month for a year (2 dealers) due to an emissions check engine light that would constantly come on. I guess Durango is a capless gas tank (I didn’t know they even existed until his issues) and they thought that might be the issue - but they could never track it down.
I told him he could file the lemon law, but he just said F it and traded it in on a CX-9 and took the loss.
He loved how big it was, and the rear cabin space - but he’ll now never buy dodge again. I think after 5 years the Durango was a 75% loss.
I had to hear about it every month LOL.
They originally were lined up to purchase a 4runner but the dealer wasn’t working with him so he didn’t go back.

I bought a 2009 MDX new. Just rolled over to 235K miles and besides normal maintenance only had to replace one wheel bearing. If not for needing a truck for the farm I would've bought another one. There have been transmission issues with 2014 and newer. The 2013 and before had a sportier ride.

Yea, stay away from Dodge. IMO all their offering are ugly and it’s a Dodge.

Lol! There is a really nice old FJ I showed her - she didn’t say no, or yes LOL

Yea, the MDX is definitely on the cheaper end. I really like the look of the 2017+.
If I can hold out for 6 months and pick one up with 30K miles for $28K-$30K it would be ideal.
Drive for 5 years, 100K miles and sell for $18-$20K. The 2010-2013 right now are priced around that range with 110-130K miles.
We keep our vehicles pretty nice, hold all records, and do a good job on selling at dealer priced blue book if not higher.

Good thing they can give it back in 2 or 3 years!

    For sure.
If they give back after 2 years, they just paid $12,560 to drive that vehicle, or $17,840 over 3 years.
    Crazy.
    I’m shooting for $1,500-$2,000 a year LOL.
Guess that’s why I’ve never leased

I know we are all anti Dodge here on the Tundra forum but everyone has different results. I would never buy a Dodge either.

But the In-laws have a 2013 Durango with 80k miles and they haven't had any issues and they also really love it. If it was me I would've bought a Sequoia.

True, but resale value of a 2013 Durango versus a 2013 Sequoia or 4Runner is probably significant. My brother had a Dodge truck. Disaster.

Yeah, and I love when people make such. Big deal about MPG’s, when that make may lose 70% of its value in a few years, and its in the shop a few times a year.

I own a 5.7 Hemi 1500 Ram BigHorn lol. It’s a business vehicle I used to drive all the time, but haven’t lately. I’ll be honest - sometimes I worry if I’m going to make it from point A to B. It has 20K more miles than my Tundra and after purchased new went back to the dealer many times due to the horrendous valve knock. They did nothing.

Unfortunately, that’s why I still have the Dodge. It would be a huge loss to sell it. We’ll just drive it into the ground.
