Bought a new Tundra a couple of weeks ago, noticed the hood film that nobody bothered to mention. I thought this was possibly a Pre delivery item that they forgot to remove. I didn't want it on there so my son and I peeled it off. It was not easy but we were strong enough between the 2 of us to get it off. However, it did leave glue residue. I used mineral spirits and a lot of rubbing and got it all off, then washed and waxed and looks great.

I've seen a few posts about this subject and wanted to post my experience. If this was an option, I would have declined it but I don't think it was. I personally think it's stupid - what happens when you get a dent on the hood that has to be painted? Is the body shop going to re-install one? Will your hood ever look as nice as a hood with a nice detail on the actual paint? Don't think so.

The new Tundra came with a film/protector on the hood. I took it off.

Welcome from CO. I will be leaving mine on because of where I live. Yes the bodyshop does replace it when a new hood is installed because of of damage. Attention to detail while detailing, you dont even notice mine and my truck is black. To each their own.

The clear bra would’ve protected your hood from rock chips...

It's a dealer option I do believe. I don't like them because dirt buildup along the edges. I've read here that a heat gun and goo-gone does wonders in removing them.
I don't see the protection they offer either, wife's Venza has it, hood has dings. I know it's only going to do so much protection but still.

I paid good money to have a self healing clear bra (Llumar) installed after the entire front end of my last truck was destroyed in one year from rock chips.

Had installation of the entire front of the truck and the entire roof done with the clear film to protect the paint upon purchase from the Toyota dealership. I think it’s good protection. Wash and wax it just like you normally would.
