All about the "Flash and Dash"...no mention of reliability or resale...but who cares about that, other than the guys who buy the Tundra.

Consider the source.. "Car" and Driver magazine. Not disputing their comments which are true. I'm used to my abysmal mpg, sheet metal, and quite frankly the lack of tech. (not necessarily a bad thing in my book) I do wish I had a passenger side floor mat hook. heh...heh...

It’s just an opinion piece, and Crunch is right. No mention of reliability or resale. Hell, not even a mention of initial quality - just a list of features and options for each. And the last sentence of the #1 Ford is completely applicable to the Tundra. Touch screen, adaptive cruise control and emergency braking. I have every one of those in my Tundra.

Yep^^^. Strictly an opinion piece. Rams 5.7 Hemi isn't exactly a new kid on the block either for examp!e.

The list is probably correct based on what they find important but their criteria is not the same as mine.

I like the fact that the Tundra is an older, tried and true design and old or not, I love the looks of the current gen Tundra and think it looks better then most of the other trucks on the list.

I like that its not loaded with a bunch of tech (and actually prefer the pre '18's over the current model for that exact reason).

I have no problem with the ride but will admit, the steering is a bit touchy on the highway and the bed bounce kind of sucks as does the gas mileage but no truck is perfect.

All in all, I'd still pick a Tundra over any of the other options and I'm not just saying "that" because I own one. I own one because of "that".

    Curse you Perry the Platypus!
Pretty much everything they said about the Tundra is why I bought mine. Knowing it is reliable and not too fancy puts a smile on my face. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I don't want or need a vehicle loaded with tech, even my '07 has more tech than I like in a vehicle. Toyota should consider going more retro with their update, a return to reliability & durability with greatly reduced flash.

Totally fair assessment in that context. They're not evaluating predicted ownership experience (they only do that, and barely, on their 2 year 40k long term test articles). It's not unfathomable to believe every other truck on the market beats the Tundra on features and efficiency.

These people at C&D literally know less than nothing about trucks. They still use 0-60 times and cornering g’s as a criteria for rating trucks, as if a few fractions of a second of acceleration are a) relevant to a truck owner, and b) noticeable. C&D is just an industry mouthpiece, and I have a hard time believing that their data is free of bias from ad dollars....

The thing I always laugh at is the fact that in everyday driving, the small cui turbo engines work harder given the same driving environment. As stated before, I don't want to pay $15k-$20k more for stuff I have on my phone.

Yota will always be ranked last in that magazine. Who cares? We don't. I actually like my no frills tech and reliability. I want a truck, not a spaceship.

When I changed to the Husky floor mats up front they have a floor mat hook. So the passenger mat doesn’t move anymore. 16C34321-AB82-4BDD-8795-EBAFDED22186.jpg

X2 on the old school gear. And has enough new aged gear for me too...heated mirrors...radar cruise..pow rear window....all things I didnt have on my 09 Tacoma, and now enjoy on my 18 Tundra. I guess the writers never called a couple of my buddies with brand new Ford F-150 2.7 twin turbo eco boosts...both have had them in the shop mutliple times with recurring probs....and no fixes.

I drove my 09 Taco...4 banger...access cab 5 spd for 10 yrs and 1 month. Put 310,000 kms on it...and still got $10,000.00(ACV) for it on trade!!

Toyota truck resale and historic reliability....#1!!!

I know enough Ford Fan Boiz, who would go right out and buy another F-150, if their truck was in the shop too much to depend-on. If ignorance is bliss, they must be a happy bunch!

From C&D’s long-term review of the second place finisher (Raptor):

“After hitting 40,000 miles, the Raptor began complaining with a noisy, ill-shifting transfer case. The dealer replaced a damaged shift fork, the clutch assembly, and a handful of other worn internal parts under warranty—a fix that took a week.

40k miles and your transfer case goes out, and I’d just love to know what “...a handful of other worn internal parts...” means. Lovely. I’ll stick with my relative dinosaur of a vehicle, TYVM...

Best advise I can say is they need washed. Put the tailgate down and clean in the back of the bed because you don't want to get the underside dirty and put on the interior of the truck. That was hard work. Now go to the store and get a nice cold refreshment, you deserve it. Upon getting home you will have realized you left the tailgate open and your mats are gone! Time to order huskeys.
