I just recently received and installed my cement bumper caps that I purchased from @SparksParts Before I installed them I compared them to the truck but it was dark outside. Now it appears the color match is not that close. What do you guys think ? The paint quality is really nice but the match isnt right to me anyway.

pearl metallics are real tough to match, can't tell if yours are, call them up

It does look a little lighter than the truck in these pics, but a few more from further back would be helpful. You might want to return them if you’re not going to be satisfied.

That is a pretty common issue with paint matched parts. Typically it’s due to the plastic base as opposed to metal. My paint matched surround is slightly off as well

Yep, same color on metal needs altered on plastic for a perfect match.

I will take some further back photos tomorrow in the daylight. The further back you are the worse it looks. Not sure what to do. I know I waited almost a month for these.

cover it in mud and let your wife take it to the grocery store a few times... The dents and scratches really help blend these things together

Kind of how I am feeling. Not sure if they are in tomorrow I have sent them a message on there website. For $510 I was expecting a closer match. I could see if this was a vinyl wrap or powder coat but its not

I see 3 different shades of cement. Any paint not coming from the same batch isn’t going to be perfect. Just gotta weigh what amount of variation you personally find acceptable. My truck and many here all have some variation esp with add ons like grille surrounds and stuff

I know the surround and hood buldge I got from @Roman and they are a pretty close match a shade darker but close. The bumper caps are like 3 shades to light and it really makes the front of the truck look horrible to me. I really got attached to the cement color but now it seems to be a pain. Toyota didnt do any of us cement guys any favors.

I was wondering about that. I figured that would have been incorporated into the painting when I purchased it. What do you think the best plan of action would be? Keep it and hate it. Or try and return it and get something painted locally?

It’s hard for colors like these. If it’s not black or white it always seems off even by a tiny bit. I painted my chrome parts cement by myself and it actually turned out pretty good, maybe even a little better than how yours turned out lol:cool: def see if you can get your money back as an option. But also post more pics too so we can all see.

When mine were painted I had to pull my tailgate access cover and bring it in to match the paint for the plastic parts. It worked and matched perfect. Unfortunately the dummies then used the same paint on my metal bumper caps. In certain light I could see the bumper caps were off, but I’m super picky, yours are terrible. Had a similar experience with color matched parts from Sparks on a previous truck, they were unreasonable with a resolution, so I lived with it.

Not sure if they will refund your money or not given that they were painted to order for you and now installed on the truck. If you’re not happy with them though it’s definitely worth a shot.
If they won’t refund and you can’t live with it, I’m sure there are plenty of folks out there who would. You could easily get a majority of your money back. Then go pick up a pair of chrome take offs for cheap and get them painted yourself.

Looks off, the tell is the painted surround, its slightly off but acceptable (like all our Tundras) for whatever reason the corners are much lighter altogether.

I'd call and inquire and email pics for them to review, its noticable enough for them to acknowledge the error and make it right for you.

Yes the surround and hood buldge is very close matching almost unnoticeable. The caps from 20 to 30 yards they almost look like a pasty white its really strange. The paint quality is really good dont get me wrong they did a fantastic job on the paint prep. Just the color is not right. I hope they help me out here I sent them an email with photos. I just wanted the communties opinion before I really proceeded with anything.

Well this has me worried now. But if this is the paint matching for cement that they are offering I really do not want others to waste $5×× on something wait a month and be dissatisfied

I did the rattle can on mine and they look just like that. Drives me nuts but I’m not sure what I want to do yet so they remain.

They do not match. Once light breaks the horizon I will take some far away photos.

I wouldnt care honestly if this was a $100 powder coat job on the chrome caps or some $50 vinyl I found to wrap my chrome caps but this was $510 that doesnt match. One of my buddies was like well if your going for a 2 tone look ha.

It's impossible to match without the truck bring there. It real sucks they don't match but I really doubt you'll be able return them.

Only suggestion is to take them to local place and see if they can blend them or repaint to match.

If honestly they do not do anything to help the situation it would be sad. The only reply I received from @SparksParts was that its odd they dont match and what year is my tundra? I provided this info when I ordered them.

    Function before sparkle.
    It doesn’t match.

With a VIN, a very close to perfect match is possible with Cement. There are much harder colors to match.

I hear ya. I just know that paint is hard to match when doing it off just paint codes with no blending. You might be able to take it to local shop to see if they can blend them but being that its metal vs plastic it might be a losing battle.

I provided them a vin and the vehicle year im just not sure why it doesnt match. Im guessing the paint mix was not right.

Here’s mine that I did myself, first time ever doing a paint project like this. You’ll notice the surround is just ever so slightly off, but barely noticeable. I did all of this for less than $150 (part of that was because I bought some hi-tech respirator with my order lol).

You might be better off trying it yourself this go around, assuming sparks doesn’t do anything for you. Even taking it to a paint shop is probably gonna run you a good penny. I got all my supplies from automotivetouchup.com
