Never heard of the Kazuma. The only true lockers I know of are ARB and Harrop. I really wish Spartan would come out with one for the 8.4 They're affordable and you can install it yourself. I put one in my 4Runner. IMG_0195.jpgIMG_0197.jpg IMG_0200.jpg

Lockers are selectable, aren't they? Or is that the air lockers?

Air or electromagnetic lockers(aka E-locker) are selectable. The Spartan is full time. You have to adjust your driving habits with one. They work under power. They disengage when you get off the throttle. I can hear mine ratcheting around corners. :D

Has anyone ever replaced the cables that hold the tailgate? It looks like it requires a special tool. One of mine isn't adjusted right or something because it's holding all the weight while the other has slack.

One end ‘clips’ with a sliding action. Push clip up and slide off/on over screw head. Other side is torx screwed?

    Maybe you are twisted up?

From some brief reasearch, Eaton makes Kazuma TRD LSD. The factory 1st Gen Eatons have 2 gears and came as an approx. $300 upgrade. The Kazumas have 3 gears and were steeper in price and installed aftermarket style.

Weighting rating not sure about. Sounds like the difference is in the # of gears of 2 vs. 3. And price tag.

Eyeballing these spacers (1.25”) which are the minimum smallest spacer doable due to the OEM lugs being 1.5”.

Are these the smallest spacers doable?

If so, any other QUALITY brands that are better for the price?

    Anything else I’m missing?

I ran spidertrax on my 4runner for 5 years. $99 per pair but worth the extra money.

Thanks. Read those reviews and they are very good. Also, popped over to the Yitamotor reviews and most had just as good reviews. Some even had run Spidermax on other vehicles and tried the Yitas out and the quality is the same for half price.

What got me on this is just wanting a slightly wider stance at around a half inch per side, but gotta go to 1.5” min.

Found WutsaZJ as the best example of the ‘look’ which is impressive. Same size tires and wheels as mine looks like, as well.

The only brands I’ve heard of are Spider Trax and Borla... post a pic when you get them installed! I may be going that route next time new tires get thrown on...

Really as long as they are hubcentric you'll be fine. I purchased a set of SET GROUP USA 1.25" spacers on eBay for $100 a set, and they have been just fine so far.

Auto store manager recommended these to me. Uses them in his new Audi. Loves them. Guy has steered me in good directions on other things. I think I’ll give them a go. Reviews look good from people that have gone all the headlamp lighting routes (many). Probs will give these a go for $24. Tech is getting cheaper and better on these LED’s. Plug n play too.

I wouldn’t recommend putting led’s in our stock reflector housings. They’re atrocious. That’s why I spent the big bucks for a retrofit. Leds suck in reflector housings; scatter the light for horrible output and end up blinding oncoming traffic. Stick with halogen, imo.

I'll second that. I had a set in for about 3 days before I switched back to halogen.

Yeah buddy. I’m torn in 5000 directions on these headlights. Option overload. The other deal killer on OE Halogens is the nicer more expensive ones only last less than a year per many reviewers. Might end up back with ‘el cheapo’ halogens that have some yellow color after all is said and done.

Those Morimotos are nice, but not sure I want to fork the $ (or put in the work).

I think my plan at this point is buy a combo set of headlamp/sidemarker housings and start feeling things out.

It really seems like halogen bulbs have gotten crappy in the last 10 years. I've gone through 2 sets in my Honda in under 2 years and 3 sets in my VW in just under 4 years. The VW has halogen projectors, I'm considering trying LED there. Not for the light but for the life, it's an act of serious torture to replace bulbs in that hellspawn of a car.

Really depends what your goal is I suppose. Auxiliary lighting isnt a bad option.

Was experiencing a slight flicker from the drivers headlight when the engine was running that was annoying the shit out of me. Swapped the bulbs to start narrowing down the issue and surprisingly that fixed the issue. No more flicker and I’m happy again.

Kind of pissed that Morimoto just came out with the new mini D2S 5.0’s this week right after I finished installing the 4.0’s. :censored:

I saw that earlier! Was drooling thinking how cool I’d be with those, but man its so much work and about $300-500.
