I'm looking into getting a set of tow mirrors. I had them on my 08 silverado and loved them for the visibility I gain behind me whether I am towing or not

One common complaint I hear however with the tundra tow mirrors is that they create big blind spots at 10 and 2 o clock.

How bad are they? I feel like those are crucial spots for pedestrians and cars. For some reason they do seem worse than compared to GM style mirrors...what If I put those on? Do you really lose more visibility up front than its worth?

I haven’t really had any issues with them obscuring my forward view. I typically look around them a little to double check I’m clear but they don’t seem to be a big blind spot.

The more concerning thing for me was the actual mirror assembly. I don’t know exactly why but there’s seems to be different mirror shapes on each side and the passenger side looks like it’s zoomed in because of this. During towing this would be useful to see your load but most of the time it ends up confusing my eyes for a second looking between the mirrors.

With that said, I love my tow mirrors! They look great with the side LEDs and after spending some time getting the mirrors exactly how I want them I have much more to look at than with the stock setup.

    Not nearly enough room here!
1219181307.jpg 1219181306.jpg I tried the GM style Tow mirrors for a while but their vibration and adjustability issues caused their return. Bought Toyota's OEM Tow Mirrors next and except for the "Sliver" of convex at the bottoms, I have no problems with them. Bought a pair of 6 inch round convex spot mirrors to finish-off the rest of my visibility issues while towing and backing unto parking spots.

I also love mine but they do take some getting used to. The passenger mirror still messes with my eyes at times, lol but not enough to remove them.

I ordered my truck partly to get tow mirrors. Around town, I wish I had the regular mirrors. As soon as I hit the highway, trailer or not, I love the tow mirrors. I'm not sure how much more blind spot there is with the tow mirrors over non-tow. Lots of blind spot just from the A pillar.

I have no problem with mine. I recommend them if you tow

I replaced my regular mirrors with the tow mirrors about two weeks ago and I prefer the tow mirrors. I don't have a visibility problem but I was a little taken aback by how the passenger side mirror changed the perceived distance to objects. Other than that issue I have no complaints.

That's so strange that it seems to be a common complaint. You explained it the best so that I could understand. Do objects seem closer or farther

    A bunch
The passenger mirror with the towing mirrors is not convex like most passenger mirrors are so the objects look a lot closer, but field of view is significantly smaller in the main mirror. It definitely messes with you at first, but I'm definitely used to it after a couple months. I'm 50/50 whether they are an improvement though, and it's purely because of the lower convex mirror - it's not big enough IMO. I'm used to GM and Ford towing mirrors and those convex ones are double the height, and that allows you to not only see the lane beside you but also your own rear tire. I wish the Tundra ones were another inch taller and that was put completely into the convex mirror.
