Drink a lot of water. No matter how temperate the weather, it's important to stay hydrated.

We are thinking inland. But we aren't opposed to anything. We have no plans of where to go on this trip

I know you're thinking about staying inland this trip, and doing the coast another time. That said, some of the most beautiful country inland has been devastated by fire (the area around Yosemite, and parts north, are not the same), and I've heard campgrounds are unseasonally occupied by people displaced by fire. I may be wrong to throw this out (since I haven't seen it first hand), but you may want to do some research before you commit. I want it to work; this is just where my brain went, right after 'oh, cool trip!'

That is actually a great point. We have had to make use of camp sites now after the Thomas fire as well.

Off the 101, Lopez falls in Arroyo Grande, San Louis Obispo, is a neat drive with a ton of shallow water crossings then a short hike to the falls. Farther north there's a great place to camp at Fort Hunter Liggett called Indians. There are no services, tons of dispersed camping. A little farther north are the pinnacles and Arroyo Seco, basically the inland side of Big Sur. There's Big Basin but I don't know anything about it 'cause it's my back yard.

Inland from the 5, up near Oroville, there's a thermal lake that sound interesting. It was built to raise the temp of the water for growing rice. Turns out the rice is fine w/o the help. Up in Redding there's Whiskey Town lake, lots of trails you can drive up to find secluded camp spots. There are bears there though so keep an eye out. There is, or was, a burger joint that made a burger so big that they put your photo on their wall if you can eat the entire thing, sorry don't know the name of it.

That's all I've got for now. There's a tree to be decorated.

All right guys, looking for some collective guidance/recommendation. I bought the SDHQ hidden bumper mount from @InfernoPRO.

    https://sdhqoffroad.com/products/10-18-toyota-tundra-sdhq-built-hidden-winch-mount

Was thinking of getting a SmittyBuilt X20 synthetic line winch to mount on it.

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00K150X2E

A lot more affordable than the WARN winches and seems to have good pulling capacity and reviews. Anyone has this combo? Any potential issues? I searched the forum for Smittybuilt X20 but didn't find anything specific threads on them.

    Thanks in advance.

I have the SSO slimline and have no access holes for the winch clutch, so i had to go warn route. I think the SDHQ bumper had it all sealed by the bumper valance, so no access holes to get to the winch clutch as well. Unless you can get the clutch from the grill.

Make sure to search X2O (the letter “O” vs number “0”) and you may find more results.

I have the 12k smitty X2O with synthetic line that we used on Saturday, just don’t have the SDHQ mount so can’t help on any info on how it would work with that.

Anybody in the South Bay (San Jose, Los Gatos, whatever) want to help lend me a hand installing some running boards in the next few days? They are just a little too cumbersome with one sets of hands....Coffee/beers on me, and could be cool to escape the in-laws for a bit...

Happy Holidays everyone! Looking to take my kid up to the snow this weekend and want to know if there’s anywhere to go that wont break the bank ! Even an area to just play would work fine, might even bring the dog is possible. Were north of S.F. And want close as possible if that helps. Thanks !

There are a few places, but the closest "legal" place is off of highway 50. They charge per vehicle. If you have 5 people it will be worth it. They charge $40/vehicle for all day access. Kids can sled down some groomed hills. I would bring your own snow sleds etc. They will charge. We've been there a few times with the kids when they were small and they had a blast. Its called Adventure Mountain Lake Tahoe. Here is the link

The other place you can go that is a little further would be Echo Lake. Here is the link

Don't make the mistake of pulling off to the side of the road where you'll see everyone. Its a crap shoot with CHP. They may or may not not cut you a break and will ticket you for trespassing and illegal stopping/parking on the highway which is $$$$. With both places I would highly recommend that you get there early. Especially with the long weekend.

Hope that helps and have fun!

Another option would be Bear Valley Lodge on HWY 4. They have an area for Snow shoe/cross country skiing that would be nice for kids to play. OR go up the HWY 4 a few more miles and you will hit 2 more spots, 1, Bear Valley Ski Resort, 2nd would be at the end of 4 its closed for the winter. and thats at alpine lake area.
Its a very easy drive, no traffic, and great little towns to stay in the area (Angels Camp, Murphys, Arnold, Dorrington) IF you can find something at this time of year.

    Hey guys,

I'm getting ready to move and am thinking about buying a Diamondback cover. I would be stoked to buy lunch/dinner for someone in the South Bay area to help give a hand lining it up and stand on it while I tighten it down.

Also - I got some stock Platinum floor mats if anyone wants them. Free.

I just moved out of South Bay to the East Bay. When are you planning to do this? I will be back in town the first weekend of Jan, and willing to help out. PM me if that time frame works out for you.

Drove 15 miles up MET. Most of the snow was either gone or turned into ice. I had to pull out a 2wd Tacoma that was spinning trying to turn around.
