DAP tune?

Looking at the DAP website and its not clear to me if the tune they offer is just a one time tune or do I receive a device that allows me to remove and reinstall the tune at my leisure. If for any reason I ever need to re-tune my truck will I have to pay an additional fee? Can anyone clarify their tune and process?

 

Yes he sends you a dim sport tuner that will allow you to install and uninstall your tune. Extremely easy process.

 

Are there any special deals on the tune anywhere? $600 seems a bit steep for the gains.

Will I need a PC to get this done? i only have a MacBook

 

It’s worth the investment. No torq management, and it eleimates governor, and the low end gains in HP are noticeable. I noticed a much crisper shift points. DAP tune is worth the $600.

 

and when you put it in beast mode.....The torque in 2nd gear is amazing.

 

Wish they would get the 18 available. Last I checked Toyota hasn't released it.

DAP takes Apple Pay as payment. I would assume so. I would email them to make sure.

PC ONLY.

I used my PC to install the tune on my '07.

 

How does this tuner differ from bully dog? Can you use windows in a virtual environment such as virtual box on a MacBook Pro?

 

This should be doable with any tuner software. I tune my Supra using the AEM software on my Macbook running Windows 7 in a Virtual Machine, Parallels, and had no issues at all.

 

What’s the process once tuner is received? Just upload a file into ecu?

 

This is the two part video that I followed. Only minor variations when flashing the tune to the ecu.

It’s not DAP but Toyota you are waiting on. Toyota has yet to release ECU info.

yep you can still drive the truck while you are waiting for the tune file.

 

What’s the difference between the stage 1 & stage 2?

Does this tune need to be removed when you go to the dealership?

 

Stage 2 comes with he AFE dry drop in air filter. It will only need to be removed if you are going to be doing diagnostic type stuff. If just going in for an oil change, wouldnt worry about it.

Wish they could finalize the tune for the 2uz! Still waiting to hear back if it’ll work on a 1st gen.
