I think you Alaskans are too busy enjoying Alaska to have any time here. heh...heh.. I know there are a few guys from AK here that pop in and out. You need to spread the word around up there. Maybe @Bob can send you a Tundras.com sticker for your truck to help. FISH ON!!!

(There are a few of us here that have spent some serious time up there. I sure as hell want to go back.)

Headed to Kotzebue in two weeks. It's a small native village about two miles long. Only a few miles of roads in the whole town that go from one end to the other. Last year I saw a new tundra there! Crazy.

I knew you would respond . I never made it Kotzebue, but I did get a chance to fly in to a village with my boss to install radio transmitters/antennas near Iliomna Lake. Pardon the miss spelling. My stupid "smart" phone spell checking. We were with 2 state engineers. We got stuck with bad weather. A local native volunteered to drive us down to another airstrip were the AK state folks could send a plane to "pick" us up. I have a video of the Otter spinning around until it stopped. Spun a couple of slow motion 360's before it stopped. Pilot gets out, "Let's go, I've got a hot date tonite." Shit. Bush pilots are a unique breed to say the least. The good life.

Forgot to add we were driven down a frozen river 25 miles down stream. See, I'm a Texan by birth, no offense. If you are a Texan, go to AK. You'll will realize what BIG is. Not brag just fact.

I was flying with my buddy who had a tail dragger. We were out in the mountains off the Denali and the landing was scary, but the takeoff made me wish I got life insurance. We poked around for a bit and when we were ready to leave he looked over this cliff edge and we hopped in the plane. Took it as far back as we could and he told me, "When I tell you to, put your fu**ing chin on my shoulder, and then slam back into your seat when I tell you to." I gave him this look and he said it again.
We started to take off and about 15 feet he screamed, "Now," and I rested my chin on his shoulder. We dove off the cliff for a second and told me, "Back!" And we had just enough lift to not smack into the cliff front in front of us.
    They are crazy up here!

Alaska is my second home. It's an amazing place. But you have to get off the road system to really see the true alaska.

Pepper Steak at Double Musky! Anything really at Double Musky is fantastic. Girdwood Brewing makes great beer. Be sure to have a Fizz at 7 Glaciers. Jack Sprats has really good food.

If you are renting skis, I suggest renting from Powderhound and doing their demo package. Great gear, and can swap out skis all day.

Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center is also really cool, and there close.

Thanks appreciate all the info, is there food/beer stores and such near or around the resort? Or load up in anchorage before heading that way?

How long will you be there? Staying at the hotel, or renting a place?

Crow Creek Mercantile is a little grocery / liquor store there. Depending on how long you’ll be there / how many people, you might want to hit up Costco off Diamond Blvd or Carrs/Safeway off Huffman on your way out of town.

NICE! You guys will have a blast. Costco for sure to stock up.

Have only heard great things about CPG. I almost went with a group last year when a guy gave up his spot the day before, but got cheap since had just returned from honeymoon a couple days prior. My buddy who went said it was EPIC. Am totally kicking myself for not going.

Never thought I’d find an Alaska thread. Spent the night in the back of my Tundra couple weeks ago in Homer before going out on a charter. Would be cool to have a get together or something.

Also, I’ve been flirting with the idea of getting a 2021 Tundra and take advantage of the no tax in Anchorage, but man...prices up here are $$$! Guess no competition helps.

Prices are INSANE. Makes me seriously think about selling mine for more than I bought it for almost two years ago. Just wish Toyota would hurry up on the details of the redesigned 2022 so I can weigh out:
    - Holding onto the 2018 (and not putting any money into it) to trade it in on a 2022,
    - Holding onto my Platinum, putting Pro suspension under it, and keeping it long term, or
    - Selling the Tundra and getting a Raptor or PowerBoost Tremor

I’d love the 2021 Platinum, but yeah it’s like $55k up here and I read about people in the lower 48 getting it for mid to high $40k range. My work reimbursed you to $5K for moving up here, in retrospect I should’ve bought a Tundra down there and shipped it up. Oh well.

Like everyone else, I’m waiting for the deets on the 2022. If the mpg isn’t significantly better than the current, I may consider getting the current Platinum. Though, even if the mpg is way better I’m guessing the next gen Tundra will be ridiculously expensive like all the other brand trucks are now. F150 for $70K???

Happy to find this thread! I see Tundra's on the road but hardly come across any Alaskan's on Tundras.com.

As most of you probably all know, Alaska prices are high in general but since I was able to snag my 2020 Double Cab just before the COVID effect (purchased Feb 28, 2020), I feel EVEN BETTER for what I paid for mine after seeing recent prices. I've contemplated selling it too and getting a Land Cruiser....but for now I'm holding.

Lastly......I just wish I could find decent mods/accessories here that aren't either unavailable or ridiculously expensive (topper, suspension, etc.)....I loath every time I read a post from someone in the lower 48 where they snagged a topper for dirt on Craigslist....no one seems to get rid of theirs once they get one up here (understandably).

@AlaskanAssassin, I happen to know of some of the standard Tundras.com 2014+ upgrades that are for sale in the Anchorage area. Granted not listed on the site due to post count rules.

Removed the driverside grab handle assembly and BA 10" SS exhaust system due to prepping the truck to sell. Possibly a few other smaller items I haven't gotten around to taking off. The truck is listed elsewhere just below dealer prices with lots of room price-wise. I refuse to sell to a dealer to have it marked up 10k more than they bought it for. (2018 Platinum Crewmax)
