the eddie, '03 i think. we were on the west side of the bay, standing on a cliff 40' above the water. sets would come in and the white water went by at eye level. when the waves broke you could feel it in your feet. this was the year bruce irons won and this is him on the winning wave. almost made the cover of surfer with this one.



that was a fun day. i'll see if i have some more slide scans.

there are a number of monsters i'd still like to photograph. shipsterns, teahupoo, nazare, puerto escondido, cloud break...

winter, '07. somewhere between black's and 15th street in del mar. biggest winter swell i'd seen since i had been a kid. waves breaking outside la jolla cove were 25'.

once the dance photos were done for the weekend, i shot some family stuff which we definitely don't do often enough. especially with roxy moving to moscow in a month.

Finally finished up our Christmas card for this year.

 

needed to spend a few hours in a happy place this morning. bluebird day and not too crowded. i did get stopped by the yellow jacket police for laying on the rails on my way into the lift line after my first run...

 

Did a bunch of hiking and trail running in and around Capital Reef. Found a pretty cool river crossing (was so fun I did it thrice!). Definitely need to get back to this area to go down all of the turns I wanted to take but didn't have time to.




The last shot is outside of the park in the middle of BFE, 40 miles from the closest pavement (we respect our public lands and don't tread where we aren't supposed to)

 

neighborhood sunset from up high. a wee bit noisy since the mavic pro doesn't really like low light. trying to get my hands on a mavic 2.

 

well... it's about freaking time. winter finally decided to show up.
