Got a skiff of snow overnight. Still super mild here so far. Temps arent getting much below zero.

Lakes are frozen apparently. Going to go take a look tomorrow and maybe do some fishing

You got that right. I tresspased into y’all’s territory yesterday. A buddy was hauling a horse to Cochrane, then we made a run into Calgary to check out the infamous Uncle Weiners Wholsale. Left there convinced that was a total waste of time, picked up the trailer on the way back out.

Some shit road conditions going over the hump, and a few even worse drivers. On the way home we narrowly missed a semi that decided he wanted our lane instead of the two on his side blocked by another spun-out semi. And the DB tailgating us almost put his F450 and sled trailer into the horse trailer. I’m glad he was driving for that part, not me.

Add an hour delay for avalanche control, and it was a long day.

We were supposed to head to golden last night from Edmonton, apparently it was a little sketchy though!

That’s a good way of putting it from Lk. Louise to Golden. More because of a couple drivers, but add that to the weather conditions and it made for seat foam in places seat foam just doesn’t belong.

There were numerous other displays of stupidity too, am surprised there wasn’t a wreck from any that we saw.

I’m really interested in buying 2019 Pro headlights, but first I want to see if someone would be interested in buying my 2018 headlights I have on the truck now.

Damn, glad you're safe. Sounds like the same crap that happens on Hwy 40 from GP down to Jasper. The worst sections is GP to Grande Cache with all the industry traffic. I've developed an undying hatred of semi trucks. I haven't driven Hwy 40 a single time without nearly being run off the road by at least one semi truck coming into my lane and one rig pig in a pickup driving like an idiot.

I installed a dash cam because of the oil industry drivers. From now on, I'll be sending video of the douchebags to their company if identifiable, CVSE, and the RCMP.

Here's I thought the immigrants in the Lower Wasteland of BC were bad drivers. Some east indian lady who has never driven before is still a better driver than your typical rig pig...

Yup, been running a dash cam myself for almost 3 years. No footage from yesterday, since we were in my buddy’s dually.

Other than that one semi and the knucklehead that spun out and blocked lanes, the snowmobiling community had the most entries for the “play stupid games, win stupid prizes” driving contest yesterday. One was even a company truck with phone number on the door and all. That one passed us twice on the trip in very risky ways, and was the tailgater to almost rear-end the trailer. All to end up a good 100 vehicles behind us after the highway reopened. Too funny.

First real road trip in the new Tundra today. Calgary to Edmonton and back. Windy and lots of traffic.

    The results:

    690 km
    96 Liters
    13.91 L/100 km

    Total fuel cost: $89.18 @0.929/l

The drive up was much better on fuel. Lots of wind on the way back.

It’s what I expect for a truck but it still hurts compared to my wife’s Pilot. Probably would have done 8-9 L/100 km.

The lowest I’ve ever got on my tundra was 11.9L/100km that was in Saskatchewan

I did 12.4 on the way up to Edmonton. I could totally see in the 11’s from Swift to Moose.

Just put a sail out the sun roof and you won't even need gas.

    A bunch
One time in my 2010 Tundra I had a huge tailwind (~80 km/h) going from North Battleford to Edmonton through Wainwright - managed to get an average of 9 L/100km. It was incredible, the slower speed (cruise at 115 on Hwy 14) and that massive tailwind made for a number I never thought I'd see.

Planning on taking a family trip out to Cape Breton and one of the locations I may aim to reach is Meat Cove.
Has anyone on here made that drive out there?

Just curious of what cool stuff I should look out for, keep an eye on or hope to see.
    Thanks!

Other locations will obviously be the Cabot Trail and we aim to get to the fortress of Louisbourg
