Anyone have experience with an AR chambered in 7.62x39? I'm looking to buy/build an AR but I would prefer to have one in 7.62. I've had a couple Bushmasters in 5.56 before so I'm familiar with the AR platform. Honestly I'm more of a Kalashnikov guy and am well stocked in 7.62 hence my decision to want an AR in this caliber. Any input from personal experience is appreciated.

In the next month or so I'm gonna be purchasing a CMMG Mk47 Mutant. Haven't shot one yet, but it reviews well online. CMMG basically reworked the bolt and action off of their AR10 to make it work with the 7.62x39, so it's pretty beefy. Plus it uses standard AK mags.

I had an MP5 chambered in 7.62x39. It didn't shoot quite right, kept jamming once or twice per 30 round mag. Don't know if it was the ammo or the fact that it was brand new and hadn't been broken in yet.

Funny story, I posted it for sale b/c I didn't like it as much as I thought and I ended up selling it to Jessy James. Didn't realize it was him till I he pulled up in a Walmart parking lot.

Pretty spendy comparing to the AR-10 or ???

This looks like a fun weapon to have.

That's looks pretty good, kinda pricey tho. Have you seen this one yet?

I like the idea of being able to use AK mags as well. Unfortunately PSA is sold out of them at the moment.

That's what I had heard, I'll gladly pay another $300 for a rifle from a quality company like CMMG. You can find Mutants on GunBroker for $1200-1300, so I'll pay the premium.

    Many to come.
This is the ONLY round other than the 5.56X45 that an AR should EVER be chambered in.

I ended up ordering an upper from Radical Firerms last week. Got a 10.5 barrel with BCG and charging handle for $339. It will prob end up being a long term project since the current wait on Form 1s is 6-8 months.
