I tow our home (30ft TT) full time with our 18 CM 4x4. If you have any questions feel free to reach out

We have a 22' Airstream and that's as big as we can go for where we camp. We've camped in national and state parks for years and many of our favorite spots can't accommodate a larger trailer. It's tight enough, especially with my mediocre backing in skills.

Our 2003 trailer went through a hail storm fine. Maybe we got lucky, but I don't think so. We also have no use for a 4 season trailer because I don't tow my trailer when there's snow on the ground. We bailed on our last two camping trips this season because of snow or the chance of snow. I also can sell my Airstream for more than I paid for it in 2012, which I don't think happens in the TT world.

I just don't think I could give up the amount of space we get with our slide out since we are full time

    A buddy wants to buy my 4Runner. It's happening :0 .

We have looked some more and are starting to think a 30ft is more in our future. Those trailers have a GVWR if 8800lbs--while I certainly wouldnt drive it long distances with 3 full tanks, I could still easily see 8500lbs with LP, batteries, etc. Once I add in armor, skids, a winch, tools, fridge, maybe a small generator, and of course family to the Tundra, I am butting up against the GCWR.

The legal and liability issues notwithstanding, my gut says operating a tow vehicle for thousands of potentially-mountainous miles a year at >95% GCWR is probably not ideal. How do you feel about it?

After digging around a few weeks, my next option after a Tundra is a new F250.

Sold! But, I'm buying an F250, heh. Turns out I really needed the 10k GCWR. Plus, I now have my wife pretty motivated to try full-timing in the the Airstream ("Honey, imagine all the extra fun we could have with 12 extra months a year in house payments!"), which means a 30ft+ trailer.

    It's been a pleasure, though!
